FARIS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== FARIS, Herman Preston 1858 - 1936 Herman P. Faris, 77, well-known banker and prohibitionist of Clinton, was killed instantly Friday afternoon when the automobile in which he was driving, alone, crashed into the railing of a concrete bridge seven miles south of Clinton on Highway 13. Mr. Faris was returning home from a business appointment in Deepwater at the time of the accident. He was known as a fast driver and had been in numerous accidents. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, a brother and sister and six grandchildren. Mr. Faris had played a large part in the life of Clinton and surrounding communities for many years. Hard work and good business judgment paved the way to the accomplishment of his goal, the establishment of one of the largest financial institutions in this part of the state, the Brinkerhoff-Faris Trust and Savings Company. An ardent prohibitionist, he had spoken in behalf of the dry cause in virtually every state in the union. Three times he was candidate of the Prohibitionists for governor of Missouri and in 1924 he carried the banner of the Prohibition party as its presidential nominee. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
