FUNK OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== FUNK, Earlene E. AUSTIN 1928 - 1999 Kansas City Star, Nov 30 1999 - Earlene E. Funk, 71, Deepwater, MO, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 29, 1999, at Golden Valley Hospital, Clinton, MO. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO; burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, MO, where she will be laid to rest next to her daughter.Mrs. Funk was born November 6, 1928, in Bentonville, AR, the daughter of Earl and Esther (Meyers) Austin. She married Jack W. Funk on June 13, 1943, and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. She owned and operated her own beauty salon in Kansas City for 12 years. She retired with her husband to Deepwater, MO, in 1987. She had been a long time member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary #302. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janie Tarlton. Mrs. Funk is survived by her husband, Jack W. Funk, Deepwater, MO; a son, C.J. Funk, Naples, FL; a daughter, Jackie Whitford, Greenwood, MO; three brothers, Richard Austin, Santee, CA, Conley Austin, Gravite, AR, and Russ Austin, LaMirada, CA; and eight grandchildren. Moriah & Freeman Chapel) FUNK, Robert Martin 1864 - 1947 Windsor Review, March 6, 1947 - Robert Martin Funk was born in Pettis County, Missouri, on October 25, 1864, and died Tuesday, February 25, 1947, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Warren Tucker, near Lincoln, Mo. Mr. Funk was one of nine children of John and Lucinda R. Funk. He was married to Sarah Ellen Parker February 26, 1890. Seven children were born to this union, two preceded him in death, John A. Funk and Mrs. Mattie Lowry. He is survived by his companion of fifty-seven years; four sons, Robert C. Funk, Kansas City, Kansas; Albert of Calhoun; Oliver F. of Vancouver, Washington, and Rex Funk of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Mrs. Laura Ellen Tucker of Lincoln, Mo., three sisters Mrs. Lula Hampton of near Windsor; Mrs. Jessie Crose of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Mrs. Carrie Pickett, Kansas City, Kansas, and one brother, S. R. Funk of Clinton. Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Also surviving are twenty-three grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Most of Mr. Funk's life was spent farming and stock raising near Windsor. He was a member of the Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge and always a good neighbor and friend. The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the Funeral Home in Windsor, conducted by G. L. Weidman, minister of the Christian Church. Mrs. G. L. Weidman and Mrs. Ira Mounts sang, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Ross Kelsey. Pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge of which he had been a member most of his life. They were Ira Mounts, Allen Titsworth, Glen Sampson, Otto Weiss, Arthur Smith and William Johnson. Burial was in Laurel Oak Cemetery. FUNK, Sarah Ellen PARKER 1874 - 1953 Windsor Review, Thursday, February 12 1953 - Sarah Ellen Parker, daughter of Martha Jane and Philip A. Parker, was born at Dell in Benton County, Missouri, on June 5, 1874 and passed away at the home of her son, Oliver H. Funk, Sr. in Vancouver, Washington, on February 1, 1953, at the age of 78 years and 8 months. She was united in marriage to R. M. Funk on February 26, 1890, and to this union seven children were born. Her husband passed away February 25, 1947, a son, John A., a daughter, Martha Lucinda Lowry and a grandson, Rex Lee Funk, also preceded her in death. Her early life was spent in Benton County. After her marriage she lived in Pettis and Henry County's with the exception of the last few years, when she has made her home with her son, Oliver and wife. She had been in failing health for a number of years but her death came quite suddenly. She and her husband, soon after marriage, became members of the Eldorado Christian Church. In 1897 they transferred their membership to the Windsor Christian Church, where she still remained a member. For years she was an active member of the Eastern Star and she was active in schools and clubs as long as her health permitted. She is survived by the following children: R. C. Funk of Kansas City, Kansas; A. P. Funk and Ellen Tucker of Calhoun; Oliver H. and Rex H. Funk of Vancouver, Washington; twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Peter Steg of West Hollywood, California and one brother, Abe Parker of Clinton; also nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends in and around Windsor who were often thought of and spoken of by her. Funeral services were held at the Huston-Turner Funeral Home on February 6 (?5?) at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend C. Ernest Grace, pastor of the Windsor Christian Church, officiating. Mrs. John Pattison and Mrs. Ira Mounts sang, accompanied by Mrs. Lois Johnston at the console. Pallbearers were: Frank Hoeppner, Charles Hunter, Glen Sampson, Harold Bunnell, Raymond Bunnell and Earl Farmer.
