GATES OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== GATES, Mary E. abt 1907 - 2000 Kansas City Star, Apr 1 2000 - Mary E. Gates, 93, of Clinton, MO, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with burial in Hopewell Cemetery, Montrose, MO. Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Family suggests contributions to the Hopewell Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home. Mrs. Gates is survived by two daughters, Frances Harvey of Clinton, MO, and Sally Dorrell of San Marcos, TX; one son, Joe Gates of Lee's Summit, MO; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. (Arrangements: Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, MO) GATES, Ralph G. 1908 - 1994 Ralph G. Gates was born December 27, 1908, in Clinton, the son of Elijah and Mary (Gorrell) Gates. He died December 12, 1994, at the golden Valley Memorial Hospital at the age of 85. He was a lifelong Clinton resident and a well-known Clinton businessman. He owned the Fashion Boot Shop on the east side of the Clinton Square, in partnership with Miss Kate Edmondston, from August of 1928 to December of 1972. He was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church, also a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Clinton Elks Lodge #1034. He is survived by his wife, Mable Gates, of the home; one son, Charles R. Gates and Wife, Elaine, of Newark, Delaware; one step-daughter, Mary Helen Hutcherson and husband, David, of Calhoun; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Dr. David Maggi officiated. Don Eaton sang The Old Rugged Cross and Shall We Bather At The River, accompanied by Scott Brooks, organist. Pallbearers were Marvin Rhoads, David Hutcherson, Vollie Harris, David Marti, Charles R. Gates, Jr. and Leroy Thompson.
