GOFF OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== GOFF, Albert Gordon n/a - 1945 A. G. Goff found dead Albert Gordon Goff, 70, who had been a resident of Brownington for the past 30 years where he had farmed, was found dead in the yard of his home Tuesday, April 10 1945. The coroner, Dr. R. S. Hollingsworth was called but death was determined to have been from natural causes. Mrs. Goff had preceded her husband in death, leaving their 11 children to survive their parents; Floyd Goff and Clifford Goff of Boise City, Oklahoma; Mrs. Edna Schlessinger of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Ruby E. Terry, Mrs. Joyce Gilbert, Charles Goff and Mrs. Ruth Carroll of Kansas City; Mrs. Pauline Jones of Raytown; Gordon Goff who is with the U. S. Navy; Lt. Dale Goff who is with the Army Air Corps at Clovis, N.M.; and Glen Goff who is with the Navy stationed at Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Funeral services for this respected, worthy, Henry Countian will be conducted at the Presbyterian Church in Brownington and burial will be at Albany, Missouri. The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 1995 at the Brownington Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hugh Sperry officiating. Pallbearers were John Moore, Charley Reece, W. A. Crowder, Bryan Park, George Carrol, and John Perrin. "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Does Jesus Care" were sung by Mesdames Eva Dunning and Charles Reece. Burial and graveside services were Friday at Albany, Mo. Among those here for the service were; Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Schlessinger, Wichita, Kansas; Floyd and Clifford Goff, Boise City, Oklahoma; Mrs. Ruby E. Terry, Mrs. Joyce Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Goff Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Carroll, Kansas City; Mrs. Pauline Jones, Raytown. GOFF, Bash SAMPSON 1881 - 1934 Clinton MO, May 5, 1934 - Mrs. A. G. Goff entered the eternal sleep at her home in Brownington, Tuesday, April 24, 1934, after a short illness, at the age of 53 years and nine days. She suffered a stroke of apoplexy at 11:30 p.m. the preceding Sunday and never regained consciousness. Previous to the stroke she had been in average good health, but a fractured ankle gave her considerable pain. Her passing was especially sad as her father, Thomas Sampson, was buried the Thursday before. Mrs. Bash Sampson Goff, the daughter of Thomas L. and Nancy Sampson, was born at Albany, Missouri, April 15, 1881. She was converted and joined the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in early girlhood, moving her membership to the Brownington Presbyterian Church in 1916 and remaining a faithful member and worker until the end. She was united in marriage to Albert G. Goff December 17, 1908. To this union 7 children were born: Mrs. Clarence Jones of Kansas City; and Charles, Gordon, Ruth, Dale Glen and Joyce of the home, who with the husband, and four step-children, Mrs. H. I. Terry, Kansas City; Mrs. F. H. Schlessinger, Wichita, Kansas; Floyd and Clifford, Griggs, Oklahoma, mourn the passing of a wife, mother, and true friend. A sister, Mrs. Kenneth Murrell, two brothers, Harry and Willis Sampson, all of Albany, Mo., nine grandchildren and a host of friends and other relatives also survive. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge and the Presbyterian Ladies Aid Society, enjoying activities in both and in church circles, loved and respected by all who ever knew her. Funeral services were held in Brownington at 10 a.m. Wednesday of last week, with Rev. S. J. Walkup, of Deepwater, officiating. The body was then taken to her old home, Albany, and the second services were held in her home church there at 2 p.m. Thursday by the pastor. She was laid to rest beside her parents in the Henton Cemetery at Albany. GOFF, Carl Joseph 1904 - 1993 Carl J. Goff, 88, Windsor, died Monday evening, March 1, 1993, at Resthaven of Windsor Nursing Home. He was born June 26, 1904, in Henry County, east of Clinton, the son of Thomas E. Goff and Essa Eva George Goff. On April 10, 1943, at the Harmony Baptist Church near Windsor, he married Ethel Dale Harvey, who preceded him in death July 1, 1974. Mr. Goff worked for the Windsor Coal Company as a Tipple Oiler for 18 1/2 years before his retirement. He also worked at Truman High School in Independence and the Allen-Rusk Hatcher in Windsor. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Baptist Church in Windsor. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Cox, Calhoun; a sister, Irene Murray, Windsor, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning. March 3, 11 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Seelow officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning one hour before service time, 10-11 a.m. The family suggests contributions to the Windsor Senior Center "Meals on Wheels" program. GOFF, Charles L. n/a - 1991 Charles L. Goff - Services were held at one p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 1991 at the Butler Chapel in Bolivar, for Charles L. Goff, 80, of South Kansas City, who died October 21, at St. Joseph Health Center. A native of Albany, Mo., he had lived in Grandview, Bolivar and Lowry City, before he returned to Grandview in 1989. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service before he retired. He was a member of the American Postal Workers Union and the National Postal Employees Retirees Association. He was a member of the Grandview Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Bolivar. He leaves a granddaughter, Melissa Tolivar, Grandview, and a grandson, Aaron Goff, Kansas City; four brothers, Glenn Goff, Perry, Ia., Gordon Goff, Springfield, Dale Goff, Kansas City, and Clifford Goff, Oklahoma City, Ok.; three sisters, Joyce Gilbert, Overland Park, Ks., Ruth Carroll, Eagle Rock, Mo., and Pauline Jones, Lowry City, and two great-grandsons. GOFF, Daniel Lee 1933 - 1996 Daniel L. Goff, 63, Windsor, died early Wednesday, January 31, 1996, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, in Clinton. He was born March 11, 1933, in Warsaw, the son of Arthur Eugene Goff and Mary Lee Quigley Goff. On August 5, 1952, in Sedalia, he married Kathy Shepherd, who survives of the home in Windsor. Mr. Goff was a construction worker for the Laborers Union No. 663, Kansas City, for many years, before his retirement. In addition to this wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel D. and Linda Goff, Windsor, and Steven C. and Judy Goff, Windsor; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia S. and Douglas Warnock, Warrensburg; three foster daughters, Melinda and her husband, Howard Coker, Windsor, Christy Larrabee, Wilburton, Oklahoma, and Brandy Larrabee, Clinton; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nadine and Bill Totton, Kansas City, and Louise and Harold Inman, Kansas City; a brother, Eugene Goff, Warsaw, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 10 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Gene Ekstrand officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. GOFF, Nancy Gage RENFRO 1823 - 1902 Clinton Eye, March 1, 1902 - Mrs. Nancy Goff died at the home of her son, William Goff, one mile south of Calhoun, Wednesday morning (Feb. 26, 1902), Age, 81. Came with her parents to Henry County in the 1830's. Her husband, Andrew Goff, built the house in which the first county court of Henry County was held. She leaves on son, William, who is in Washington Territory. GOFF, Paul 1869 - 1939 Yakima Herald, Yakima, Washington, Jan 4 1939 - Funeral services for Paul Goff, 69, who died early Wednesday morning in St Elizabeth's Hospital will be help Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Chapel of Shaw and Sons. The Reverend Charles Ghormely will preach and burial will be in Tahoma Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Paul Allen, James Underwood, Walter Stewart, Grant Parsons, and F C Vanderwater. Goff had been ill with a heart ailment since Dec 18. He lived in the Fruitvale District. He was born in Henry County, Missouri and lived in Yakima 20 years. the family includes his wife, Eliza; two sister, Mrs. Fannie Bardwell and Mrs. Nora Zimmerman, both of Long Beach, Cal., and a niece in Yakima, Mrs. Grace Deffenbough. GOFF, Sarah A. "Sallie" WILEY 1835 - 1915 "Aunt Sallie" Goff, relict of the late Luke Goff, departed this life Wednesday evening of last week, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Newman. Funeral services conducted at the home Friday morning, and interment at Drake's Chapel. Deceased was a sister of Thomas J. and John Wiley, and was born February 4, 1835, on the old Wiley homestead. - (county coordinator note: she and her husband are buried at the Calhoun cemetery) GOFF, Walter Thomas Jr. 1932 - 1991 Walter Thomas Goff, Jr. was born June 5, 1932, in Warsaw, the son of Walter Thomas Goff, Sr. and Irene Brown Thomas. He passed away suddenly July 7, 1991, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton at the age of 59 years, one month and two days. He was married to the former Zelma Iiams Webster October 6, 1967, and the couple made their home at 216 W. Allen Street in Clinton. He was employed in Clinton by the Beacon Moving and Storage Company for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Zelma of the home; two sons, David Deckard, Kansas City, Kansas, and James Frederick Goff, Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Roberta Irene Sresea, Morenci, Arizona, Kathy Sundoval, Pueblo, Colorado; seven step-children; one half-brother, Harold Davis, Kansas City, Kansas; six grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 1991, at Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Reverend William Ritchie officiated. Musical selections were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow". Soloist was Gene Consalus and Laura M. Fetters, organist. Pallbearers were Eldon Webster, Larry Mothersbaugh, Jack Clay, Danny Goff, Marvin Abney and Bill Wilson. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. GOFF, Zelma Pearl IIAMS WEBSTER 1919 - 1997 Zelma Pearl Webster Goff, 78, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, at her home in Clinton. She was born January 11, 1919, in Hickory County, the daughter of David Taylor Iiams and Beulah Linsey Iiams. She was a lifelong resident of this area. On September 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Orville Franklin Webster and to this union 11 children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; one brother; her husband, Orville; twin sons, Joe Franklin and Jerry James; one daughter, Beaulah Weaver; another son, David Eugene, and four grandchildren of Beaulah Weaver's. She was married to Walter Goff October 6, 1967, who preceded her in death on July 7, 1991. She was a member of the Allen Street Baptist Church and the Golden Valley Roamers. She is survived by three sons, James Webster, Kansas City, Eldon, and Danny Webster, Clinton; four daughters, Shirley Mothersbaugh, Alice Collins, Linda Webster and Dorothy Webster, all of Clinton; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, at the Consalus Chapel in Clinton. Rev. Roger House officiated. Organist was Virgil Holden who also sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden". Pallbearers were Shelby Scott, Junior Flippin, Jack Gurney, Larry Mothersbaugh, Kent Batschelett and Robert Minks.
