GREEN OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== GREEN, John Lee 1913 - 1999 Clinton Daily Democrat Nov 22 1999 - John Lee Green of Garden City was born March 30, 1913, at Clinton, the son of Ramsey and Ada (Hart) Green. He departed this life Saturday, November 13, 1999, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, at the age of 86 years, seven months and 13 days. He lived most of his young life with the Staley and Grosshart families near Creighton. He was a truck driver before moving to California when he was 23-years-old. On November 8, 1936, John was united in marriage to Bonnie Louise Gregg in the Community Congregational Church, Mojave, California. John was employed by the Railway Express Agency, Fresno, California, for 38 years, until his retirement in 1974. John accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior on March 9, 1975, and had been a devout Christian and a member, deacon and board member of the Creighton Christian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Army Medical Corps. John spent one year in the Untied States and 26 months overseas in the European Theatre. He saw action in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. John received the American Campaign, European Champaign, African Campaign, Middle Eastern Campaign and Victory medals. John and Bonnie enjoyed traveling. He also liked gardening, working with wood and was a good carpenter. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Denver Green, and two sisters, Smithreid Miller and Pansy Pfeffer. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie L. Green, of the home; a half-brother, Don Laurin, Cheyenne, Wyoming; a half-sister, Bessie Porter, Colbert, Washington. Uncle John was a favorite of all his nieces and nephews and was also much loved by all of his relatives and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Creighton Christian Church, or to the Gideons International. Funeral services were Wednesday, November 17, 10 a.m., at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City. Rev. John Kukovich officiated. Daron, Deya and Berniece Garey sang "Count Your Blessings" and the Monty Dunn Family sang "He Leadeth Me". Honorary pallbearers were Carl B. Abbott, George E. Hook, Don Rapp, Hubert J. Clark, Jim Jennings and Leroy Russell. Pallbeaers were Brad Dolloff, Duane Garey, John Hartzler, Nathan Schrock, Monty Dunn, Troy Garey, Terry Hunt and Stanley Schrock.
