There he grew up to manhood and in the early 1920`s married Eunice Cox at Warsaw, Mo. To this union two sons were born, Dean A. and Bobby B., both now of Kansas City, Mo. After the death of his wife in the early 1930`s, he spent much of his time at the home of his brother- in-law and sister, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harris. On April 5, 1933, he married Vivian Riddle of Clinton , Mo. and they made their home in Clinton until the following year when moved to Harris Bend to assist Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harris in operating the 1500-acre farm. In 1948 he suffered a serious attack of pneumonia from which he never fully recovered. Other complications developed and he was hospitalized for six weeks. His health continued to decline until death claimed him. Mr. Guthrie spread much joy in the world because he was of a joyous disposition. He made friends easily, and they, with members of his family, found it a pleasure to visit in the home and often did so.
