HAYS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HAYS, John Robert Sr. 1905 - 1997 John Robert Hays, Sr., 91, Warrensburg, formerly of Leeton, died Saturday, Jan 4, 1997, at the Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg. He was born Nov 16, 1905, near Knob Noster, the son of Melvin Foster Hays and Ruth Roark Hays. On Oct 6, 1927, in Warrensburg, he married Thelma Inez Martin. She preceded him in death Nov 17, 1990. Mr. Hays attended Mohler's Barber College in Kansas City. He bought the barbershop in Leeton where he worked in the 1920s and 1930s. After selling the barbershop, he worked at the Windsor Coal Co. for 10 years. He later worked part time as a school bus driver for the Leeton School District for 11 years and as a night clerk at the Martin Hotel in Warrensburg. Mr. Hays retired as a police dispatcher for the City of Warrensburg. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bud (Wilma Ruth) Williams, Warrensburg; two sons, John Robert Jr., Sedalia, and Russell Lee, Independence plus grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Josie Lafferty, Grace Williams and Almeda Williams; a brother, S. H. Hays, and a grandson, Scott Hays. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m.
