HERNDON OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HERNDON, G. Edgar, Mrs. n/a - 1936 Olympian, Mar 5 1936 - Mrs. W. H. Rush of Deepwater received word that her aunt, Mrs. G. E. Herndon, of Olympia, Washington, died February 23rd, after been struck by an automobile while crossing a street. She was taken to a hospital and lived 26 hours after the accident. Mrs. Herndon, who was 63 years of age, was born and raised northeast of Clinton, in Quarles neighborhood. She is survived by her husband, G. Edgar Herndon, two sons; Lee Wills, of McCleary, Washington, Clay Herndon, Olympia; two brothers, Don Cameron, west of Calhoun; W. P. Cameron, near Deepwater, and four grandchildren, Earl Runner of Clinton is a nephew. About 29 years ago she left here with her family to make her home in Washington state and has lived there most of that time in Olympia. She took up nursing several years ago and always had all the work of that kind that she could do. She was returning from her day's work at the time of the fatal accident. At an early age she was converted and united with the M. E. Church. She was always a most devoted follower of the Master. The funeral was held February 25 and the burial was at the Masonia Cemetery in Olympia. HERNDON, Julius C. "Dude" 1881 - 1972 Funeral services for J. C. (Dude) Herndon, 90, who died Tuesday at Golden Valley Nursing Home after a failing illness, were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Huston- Hadley Funeral Home in Windsor. Rev. George H. Alexander officiated at the services and burial in Laurel Oaks Cemetery. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Watson, Mrs. Mary Williams and Mrs. Frances Engelhart all of Clinton, and Mrs. Mildred Pridgen of Houston, Tex.; also six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandaughters. Mr. Herndon was born near Calhoun on September 10, 1881, the son of the late Richard and Sarah James McFall Herndon.
