HESLER OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HESLER, Laura Martin HESLER SLAVENS 1863 - 1946 The earthly life of Mrs. Laura Hesler came to a close July 28, 1946 at the Walker Home in Pittsburg, Kansas, where she had been the last five weeks. Mrs. Hesler was born April 1, 1863 near Coal, Missouri. On October 12, 1881, she and John Reuben Slavens were united in marriage. Two sons, Howard and Frank, were given to them. In May, 1887, her husband died, leaving her two small sons to rear. Frank, the youngest, was called home in early life, and Howard, after reaching manhood. Years later, she married Will Hesler. One son, Clyde, was born to this union, who lived only a few years till death claimed him. A few years later, her husband died, leaving her alone again. After his death, she continued to live in Asbury, Missouri, where they had resided for many years. While she maintained her home, during her last illness, her daughter-in-law, Edna Slavens would take her into her home and care for her with much kindness and consideration. The survivors include the daughter-in-law, Mrs. Edna Slavens of Pittsburg, Kansas, a grandson, R. W. Slavens, of Fredericktown, Missouri, four great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ed Witherspoon, near Browington, Missouri. Funeral services were held at the Asbury Methodist Church at 2:00 July 30. Interment Mt.
