HICKS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HICKS, Abner Eugene 1895 - 1969 Abner Eugene Hicks, the son of John Franklin and Ella Hicks, was born October 25, 1895, at Shell City, Missouri. He died April 11, 1969, at the General Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. On March 24,1917, he married Vena Mae Marquis, at Schell City, Missouri. In 1927 they moved to Clinton. To this marriage there was born eight children. Survivors included his wife, Vena, of the home; five sons, Charles, Kansas City, Birney, Clinton, Kenneth, Wade, and Earl all of Harrisonville; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Onwiler, Windsor, Mrs. Shirley Petty, Sedalia, and Mrs. Ella Harrill, Clinton. Also four brothers; John, Fowlerville, Michigan; Frank. Independence; Wade, Kansas City; and Charles, Schell City; and two sisters, Bertha Beaird, Schell City, Evelyn Lukenbill, Nevada; and twenty-one grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Hicks joined the Baptist Church of Schell City on December 3, 1910. He had his membership moved to the First Baptist Church of Clinton in the year 1948. He sang in both churches and accompanied Reverend Wade Johnson, well known evangelist on many revivals as singer. In addition to the fore mentioned relatives, Mr. Hicks will be sadly missed by a large number of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, April 14, at two o'clock p.m. at the Vansant Funeral Home. Rev. Loie Allen officiated. Final resting place is in Englewood Cemetery. Mrs. Nadine Cunning, organist, accompanied Lewis Delozier as he sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset. Pallbearers were Clay Groff, Gabe Searcy, Eddie Walters, Bill Harrelson, M. P. Hallford and Kennety Meadows. HICKS, Charles Kenneth 1911 - 1993 Charles Kenneth Hicks, 82, Holden, passed away Tuesday, Mary 11, 1993 at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee's Summit. He was born February 24, 1911 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the son of Arthur E. and Minnie June (Robinson) Hicks. He had lived in the Holden community most of his life and was a farmer. He was a member of the Birchwood Baptist Church in Independence. He leaves two nephews, Ernest Gudde, Holden, and Robert Hicks, Tampa, FL; and many grandnieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at Pittsville Cemetery near Holden at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 1993, under direction of Ben Cast & Son- Wood Funeral Home, Holden. The Rev. Lindy Reed officiated. HICKS, Kenneth Marquis 1925 - 1975 Kenneth Marquis Hicks was born July 18, 1925 at Schell City, Missouri, and passed away at Harrisonville, Missouri on January 1. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Abner and Vena Hicks. On July 10, 1945 he was married to Margie Faye Campbell, and to this union four children were born who survive. The children include one daughter, Patricia Ann Brown of Kansas City, and three sons, Kenneth J. of Pleasant Hill, Henry Eugene of the U.S. Marines, and Jimmy Ray of the home. Three sisters and four brothers also survive: Catherine Onwiler of Windsor, Ella Harrill of Clinton, Shirley Petty of Sedalia, Charles of Kansas City, Birney of Clinton, Wade and Earl of Harrisonville; five grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a host of friends and neighbors. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 in which 71/2 months was as a prisoner of war. He worked at the Bendix Corp. in Kansas City for 13 years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. January 5, at the Vansant Funeral Home with Reverend Russell Adams officiating. Burial was in the Urich Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bud Harding, A. L.
