HOLT OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HOLT, Neal Ray Jr. n/a - 1985 Neal Ray Holt Jr., 29, Rosenberg, TX, was killed on August 21, 1985, when his car went out of control and overturned several times. He was born in Clinton, MO, and lived in California for several years before moving to the Houston, TX, area in 1977. He is survived by his wife, Jennie and his son, Justin, both of the home; his father, Neal Ray Holt Sr., Houston; his mother, Margaret Lackey, Kansas City; a sister, Debbie Bergevin, Sonora, CA; a brother, Shane Lackey, KC. Services were held August 24, 1985 with burial in Midland, TX. His grandparents, the late Ruth and Arthur Holt, were lifelong Henry County residents. HOLT, Russell R. n/a - 1964 Russell R. Holt, 62, of 326 N. Topping, Kansas City, MO, died Nov 14, 1964, at St. Mary's hospital after a long illness. He was born in Clinton, MO, and lived here 41 years. He was a foreman in the Chrysler Corporation parts division, Kansas City, KS. He leaves his wife, Eleanor, of the home; three brothers, Emmett, 2404 E. Seventieth Terr, Arglus, Moberly, MO, and Arthur, Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Pugh and Mrs. Charles Campbell. Funeral services will be at Blackman Chapel with burial in Floral Hill Cemetery. HOLT, Ruth Mae SORRELS 1906 - 1984 Ruth Mae Holt, 77, 34-C Wetzel Circle, Clinton, died Saturday, May 12, 1984, at Westwood. Mrs. Holt was born at Calhoun on May 23, 1906, the daughter of William and Mary Susan Sorrels. She married Arthur D. Holt on November 27, 1926. To this union two sons and two daughters were born. Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur; her parents, a twin sister, Ruby Sauerhagen, and a brother, Olan Sorrels. She was a member of the Drake's Chapel Methodist Church for many years, later transferring her membership to the Christian Church in Clinton in April of 1973. She is survived by two sons, Olan, of DeSoto, KS, and Neal, of Houston, TX; two daughters, Billie Dee Kewtzer of Creighton and Erlene Lucas of Plattsburg, NY. Funeral services will be at the Christian Church in Clinton with burial in the Calhoun Cemetery. HOLT, Viola TUBBESING 1913 - 1988 Mrs. Viola Tubbesing Holt, 75, of 308 E. Franklin St., Clinton, MO, died at Golden Valley Hospital on August 12, 1988. She is survived by four sisters, Miss Hulda Tubbesing of Clinton, Bertha Whittier of Seattle, WA, Laura Crooks of Leeton, Mary Smith of San Louis Obisbo, CA; and also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Consalus Chapel with Dr. Ronald Chastine officiating. Burial was in the Calhoun Cemetery. Viola Holt was the eighth child of William and Lizzie Tubbesing. She was born July 21, 1913 at the family home near Quarles She was educated at Comer Elementary School, attended one year of high school at Shawnee Mound and graduated from Clinton High School in 1931. Her college career was cut short because of illness after one semester. She was a member of the Quarles Baptist Church. On Nov 16, 1939 she married Emmett A. Holt of the Drakes Chapel vicinity. They had no children. For a time she was employed as a receptionist for Dr. J. B. O'Neal. Later she acted as secretary in the Medical Office at Bendix Corp in Kansas City. In 1970 she retired because of a health disability. In 1974 she and her husband moved to Table Rock Lake area, where she lived until Emmett died on May 13, 1985. To be nearer her family, she sold her home and came to live in Clinton in June 1986. She was seized with crippling arthritis while living at Kimberling City and though she suffered severely she was determined to carry on with her life. She faced each day with a bright spirit and tried not to burden her loved ones and friends with her suffering. She was a favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews on both sides of her family. She had a wide circle of friends around Kansas City and Kimberling City where they spent many years. Her interests were also many and although she was unable to participate in a lot of ways, she was concerned and willing.
