HOOD OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HOOD, Calvin Monroe "Bo" 1906 - 1997 Calvin Monroe (Bo) Hood was born November 6, 1906, on a farm near Montrose. He was the sixth of seven children born to John and Alice Hood and was the last surviving member of that family. He married Frances Tamborella on March 16, 1935, in Kansas City. The couple had two children, William C. Hood of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Janice F. Gray of Paintsville, Kentucky. Mr. Hood was a Clinton businessman most of his adult life. He built and operated the former Times Square Motel, a prominent motel on South Second Street, during the late 1940's and 1950's. Subsequently he owned and operated a farm east of Clinton and Hood's Hardware and Gifts on the Clinton Square before going into the home construction business and building numerous houses around the city. He then built and operated the Colonial Motel on the east edge of town. After selling Colonial Motel, he ran Hood's Real Estate until his retirement. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge for about 45 years. He is survived by his wife, Frances, of the home; his daughter, Janice; his son, Bill; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Thursday, September 25, at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Maggi officiating. "How Great Thou Art" and "Whispering Hope" were sung by David L. Mills and Peggy Arthur with Mrs. Arthur playing the organ. Pallbearers were Kenneth Calvin Hood, Ronald William Hood, Eric Scott Gray, Herman Pomperien, Jared Scott Gray and Richard Williams. Burial was in the Englewood Cemetery,l Clinton, under the direction of Vansant- Mills Funeral Home of Clinton. HOOD, Julia BEASLEY 1860 - 1919 Clinton Eye Feb 1919 - Mrs. Julia Hood Died - At the home of her son, W. J. Hood, on East Ohio street, January 29th, at 4:20 a.m. She had been in failing health for a number of years, but about 10 days previous to her death developed sugar diabetes, from which she never recovered. Julia Beasley was born in Livingston county, Mo., near Chillicothe, April 3, 1860. She married Wm. Hood when she was 15. About 38 years ago they came to Henry county and this had been their home ever since with the exception of a few years, when she lived in Cedar county. Eight children were given to this union, of which 4 survive. Her husband died 9 years ago, and since that time she has made her home with her sons. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Etta Breeze, of Woodward, Okla.; and three sons - Rev. W. S. Hood, of Adrian; R. S. Hood, of near Warrensburg; and W. J. Hood of Clinton. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Eliza Cox, of Chillicothe, and Jaba and Spencer, of California. Deceased had been a member of the Christian church for years and was a good wife and mother. When her son, R. S. Hood's first wife died, she took his baby boy and raised him like she did her own children. The funeral services were held at the home of her son Thursday morning of last week by Rev. A. N. Lindsey. Burial beside her husband in Bethlehem cemetery. HOOD, Myrtle 1879 - 1933 Clinton Eye June 15 1933 - Myrtle Hood was born May 4 1879 in Rhodehouse, Illinois, and died June 7 1933 at the age of 54 years one month and four days. She was married to George W. Hood in 1895 in Brownington where they have always made their home. She is the mother of 11 children, three having preceded her to her Heavenly home, Irma Pearl, 3 years old and two infants. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure eight children all present except her son Clyde, who is working in Massachusetts; Mrs. Orla Parks of Deepwater; Mrs. Oscar Berteau, Minden Mines; Mrs. John Crabtree, Sedalia; and Charley, Ester Mae, Evelyn and Norma of the home. Also one stepson, Harry Hood of Kansas City. She was a member of the Brownington Christian Church having joined in 1911. She was a faithful member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church, June 9, by the Rev. D. D. Tally of Bolivar, followed by the Royal Neighbors Lodge. The large number that attended this service and the many beautiful flowers spoke of their love and appreciation for the life of this good mother. Internment was made in Brownington Cemetery under directions of undertaker Rickett. Pallbearers were Amil Ritter, Artie Berteau, Chas. Reece, Edwin McClain, J. W. Dunning and Bill Walters. HOOD, Robert E. abt 1943 - 1995 Robert E. Hood, 52, Kansas City, Kansas, died Friday, August 11, 1995, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Monday at the home. Mr. Hood had lived in the Kansas City area most of his life. He was an electrician by trade, and he was a past owner and proprietor of the Bobby Gene's Bar and Grill in Shawnee, Ks., for nine years. Mr. Hood was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Theresa Hood of the home; five sons, Larry J.
