HOSACK OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HOSACK, Cartha Gene - 1994 Cartha Gene Hosack, 66, Juniper Road, Newburgh, Indiana, died Sunday, June 5, 1994, at his home. Mr. Hosack, a member of the Presbyterian faith, retired in 1986 from Peabody Coal Co., where he worked for 35 years. He was general superintendent of mining operations in Indiana and Ohio, and retired as superintendent of blasting operations. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Evansville Eagles Lodge and past president of the Indiana Coal Association. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Helen Trainer; a son, Gary Hosack of Evansville; a daughter, Karen Hosack of West Liberty, Iowa; a half- sister, Glee Merrill Burt of Missouri; and grandchildren, Christopher and Matthew Hosack, both of Evansville, and Kama, Benjamin and Jed Johnson, all of West Liberty. Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, in Evansville, Indiana. Boone Funeral Home, Evansville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. HOSACK, Clarence Ebenezer 1872 - 1938 Deepwater World, Thursday April 14, 1938 - Clarence Ebenezer Hosack son of Elizabeth and Ebenezer Hosack was born in Jacksonville Ill., July 23, 1872. When a small boy, he came with his parents to Henry County, where he lived until his death April 5, 1938. He was united in marriage to Nora Anna Blanchard, January 1, 1896. To this union were born two children, Ralph Blanchard and Glee Merrill. On March 1, 1923, his wife Nora Anna passed away after a lingering illness of several years. June 29, 1926, he was united in second marriage to Dora Thelma Sharp. To this union were born two sons, Cartha Gene and Sidney Earl. At the age of 14 on May 18, 1886, he united with the Presbyterian Church in Brownington. Since that time he has been active in all branches of church work serving as Ruling Elder and Sunday School Superintendent for more than thirty years. He was also active in community and civic affairs serving in various official capacities. He was a member as well as secretary of the Board of Education at the time of his death. He entered the Civil Service as Rural Letter Carrier when the Rural Free Delivery was first established in 1901, serving faithfully until his retirement January 1, 1934. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Cartha Gene and Sidney Earl of the home; a son Ralph B. Hosack; a daughter Mrs. Orbin Burt and two grandchildren, Christine Elizabeth and Donald Clarence Burt all of Kansas City, Mo. and a brother, Osway Hosack of Santa Monica, Calif. besides a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Brownington at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. conducted by Rev. Walkup of Deepwater and Rev Gaston of Gerster. Interment was in the Maplewood Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Bryan Parks, S.W. Whitaker, John Moore, Bill Walters, Aron Smith and Dr. J.R. Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were composed of Rural Letter Carriers of Henry County. A quartet composed of Mrs. Effie Wears, Mrs. Blanche Shepard, Mrs. Gertude Cooper and Mrs. Helen Douglass sang "There will be no Disappointment in Heaven" and Shadows. A song "Jesus Will" sung by a special choir composed of Mrs. Mertie Reece, Mrs. Clifford Taylor, Mrs. Winnie Hurst, Mrs. Louie Adkins, Miss Ruth Goff and T.J. Rogers with Mrs.Lillilan Douglass of Deepwater at the piano. A solo "The City Foursquare" by Mrs. Charles Titus, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Titus, both of Bolivar.
