HOUTCHENS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== HOUTCHENS, Delton Louis 1918 - 1997 Delton Louis Houtchens was born January 14, 1918, in Deepwater, the son of Emmet and Bessie Louderman Houtchens. He died Friday, January 31, 1997, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Kansas City at the age of 79. Mr. Houtchens was a veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Betty Kirkwood. He was a well known attorney, having his office in Clinton for many years. He was very active in the community and took a special interest in the Samaritan Center. He was also active in the Democratic party and served as state Democratic chairman from 1964 until 1972. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Clinton. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #548, Ararat Shrine Temple, Kansas City; also a member of BPOE Elks Lodge #1034, and American Legion Post #14. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; one son, Richard Houtchens and wife, Anita, Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Joyce Davidson and husband, Ron, Clinton; five grandchildren, Richard "Kirk" Houtchens and Pam Holloway, both of Springfield, Brad Keith, Kansas City, Aaron Keith and Ryan Keith, both of Clinton; four great- grandchildren, Jason Holloway, Scott Holloway, Michael Louis Keith and Katherine Elaina Keith. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, at the First Baptist Church, Clinton, with Rev. Dana Burris officiating. Eulogies were given by Dr. Ron Chastine, Bill Roberts and Bill Cason. Josh Roberts sang Through Every Storm and The Lord's Prayer. Don and Brenda Eaton sang a duet God Will Make A Way. Pianist was Cindy Groff and organist was Scott Brooks. Pallbearers were Bill Roberts, Bill Cason, Jim Journey, Don Eaton, Oren Henry, Jr. and George Lilleston. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Salmon, Ralph Lowe, Uel Briggs, Kelso Journey, Tracy Delozier, Earl Watkins and Howard Marolf.
