JOHNSTON OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== JOHNSTON, Clifford P. n/a - 1993 Clifford P. Johnston, Mission, died Friday, October 1, 1993, at St. Joseph Health Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, at the Newcomer's Overland Park Chapel; burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Mr. Johnston was a lifelong area resident. He was owner of the C. P. Johnston Hay Company from 1950 until retiring in 1982. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a brother, Robert Johnston, Warsaw, and a sister Anna Mae Herring, Clinton. JOHNSTON, Deck abt 1918 - 2000 Kansas City Star, Apr 5 2000 - Deck Johnston, 82, of Clinton, MO, (formerly of Merriam, KS), passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2000, at his home. At Mr. Johnson's request, he will be cremated and interned with his Mother and Father in the family plot in Marianna, AR. At his request, there will be no memorial visitation services. Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jimmye and one son, Johnny of Lenexa, KS. Mr. Johnston had two sons, his youngest, Kevin, preceded him in death. Mr. Johnston was born and raised in Memphis, TN, where he graduated from Christian Bros. College and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was later to take graduate courses at the University of Texas while stationed there. Mr. Johnston was a retired Major in the USAF and saw service in the C.B.I. (China, Burma, India) Theater in WWII. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. After service, Mr. Johnston returned to Memphis and became an Executive at Remington Rand and was also Executive of the Junior Chamber of Commerce until 1955. He moved his family to Merriam, KS, to establish the Deck Johnston Company where he remained a principle until his retirement in 1982, when he and his wife moved to Clinton, MO. He and his wife were members of the Clinton Country Club. Arrangements are pending at Consalus Funeral home In Urich. - Kenneth Byron Johnston was born December 14, 1912 in Pawnee, Oklahoma, the son of George and Susie (Hill) Johnston. Kenneth was married to Nellie Margaret Lang in 1965. He served his country as a veteran of the United State's Army. Mr. Johnston worked as a warehouse man for the Best Foods Company, retiring in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Nellie, of the home: four sons, Johnny Johnston, Kentucky. Vernon Johnston, Windsor, Calvin Johnston, Kansas City, and Tommy Johnston, California: two daughters, Kenna Louise Smith, California, and Valorie Smith, Kansas City: an adopted son, Donald Cotton, California: two stepsons, James Decou, Salt Lake City, Utah, Allen Decou, Tunas, Mo.; two brothers, Carl Johnston, Pawnee, Ok., Marion Johnston, Tulsa, Ok.; three sisters, Irene Cather, Pawnee, Ok., Ruby Ballum, Hawaii, and Rachel Hackett, Strasburg, Mo. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 1993 at Consalus Chapel Urich, with Rev. Howard Cupp officiating. Music was One Day At A Time, Peace In The Valley and The Old Rugged Cross by Alla Dee Franklin. Pallbearers were Shawn Wilkey, Kenneth Hansuld, Larry Decou, Chris Whiteley, Henery Hansuld, Timmy Johnston.
