Some months ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and bedfast about a week. Soon after she came up and made an extended visit here with her brother and sister. She enjoyed being here and meeting her old friends and had planned to return and spend the month of January. Sue Y. Parks was born at the home of per parents, the late Judge and Mrs. Jas Parks, near Calhoun, July 31, 1861. On August 31, 1862, they moved to Clinton and this had been her home since with the exception of the last four years she had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Meek, in Ft. Smith. She was educated here and completed the Clinton High School in 1879. Meanwhile she had taken up the study of music under Mrs. A. P. Frowein and had become very proficient. She commenced teaching music when very young and had large classes both in Clinton and the surrounding towns. She also used her talent for her church and for many years served as organist and pianist at the Baptist church. She played with rare skill and interpretation, which made her playing a pleasure to all who heard her. Since going to Ft. Smith she again started giving lessons and her recitals and the work she did with her 7 pupils was a delight in that city, and attracted much attention. She married Dr. S. A. Milton Sep 13, 1881. Their married life was very happy, both leading in the intellectual progress of Clinton. Both were members of the Baptist church. She taught for many years in the Sunday school, doing a great work with the young people, who loved their bright, happy faced teacher, who brought to them each Sunday a Bible lesson worth while. She also took an active part in the Bible class of the church, and was always ready to do what she could for those about her. She visited the sick and afflicted, bringing cheer and news of the outside world into their homes. Her husband died about four years ago and her youngest daughter, Anna, several years before that.
