OWSLEY OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== OWSLEY, Othie Earl 1912 - 2000 Clinton Daily Democrat, Thurs, Jan 27 2000 - Othie Earl Owsley was born in Benton County April 16, 1912, son of Joseph M. and Bertha Mae Pyle Owsley. He died Wednesday, January 19, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Othie served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. He was captured in France and was a prisoner of war for 10 and a half months. He was a member of the Ex-POW Club, a life member of VFW Post 1896 and the American Legion. He married Dolly Justis on July 3, 1943, in Abilene, Texas. He went to work for Missouri Public Service in August 1946 and worked his way up to foreman. Preceding him in death were a son, Leonard Owsley, and two sisters, Ruth Trenary and Ethel Bell. Survivors include his wife, Dolly, of the home; son, Dean Owsley and wife, Denise, Clinton; daughters, Gale Ann Vesco and husband, Jack, Sparks, Nevada, Debbie Gamber and husband, Jim, Clinton; brothers, Olan Owsley, Lincoln, California, Lester Owsley, Honey Path, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held January 24 at the Consalus Chapel Clinton, with Rev. Don Coleman officiating. Scott Brooks was at the organ with Jill Williamson as pianist and Nancy Denny as soloist. Music was "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Love Lifted Me". Pallbearers were Tim Vesco, Joe Vesco, Shannon Owsley, Chipper Owsley, Montique Owsley, Devon Owsley, Chris Gamber, Trevor Owsley and Richard Nichols. Burial was in Clinton Memory Gardens with graveside services provided by Clinton VFW Post 1894. OWSLEY, Rolla N. 1858 - 1930 Rolla N. Owsley was born on what is known as the Owsley farm, north of Windsor, March 23, 1858, and died unexpectedly at his home here, August 5th, 1930. Mr. Owsley has been prominently identified with all Windsor undertakings and business affairs the past fifty years, taking an active interest in everything tending to promote the welfare of his home community. He served eight years as postmaster under President Wilson and was one of our most popular public officials. Since retiring from that position, he has been engaged in the mercantile business and was at the store and transacting business as usual Monday. Mr. Owsley had not been in good health the past few years but his ailments were causing no immediate anxiety to his family and his sudden passing away was a severe shock to them and the entire community. Mr. Owsley was married June 2nd, 1880, to Miss Nettie E. Pierce, who, with the following children survive: Mrs. W. E. Clark, Portland, Oregon, John Owsley, Los Angeles, Calif., M. Pierce Owsley, of Windsor, and Mrs. Charles Lindquist, of Port Blakeley, Washington.
