PAUL OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== PAUL, Hildreth Adelia McQUITTY 1907 - 1995 Hildreth Adelia McQuitty Paul was born November 4, 1907, in Henry County, the daughter of William Thomas and Lucy Wray (Hazard) McQuitty. She died Saturday, July 22, 1995, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton at the age of 87. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She attended two years of college and was always interested in education. She established the Hildreth McQuitty Paul Christian Scholarship Fund for area students. On May 26, 1928, in Johnson County, she was united in marriage to William Paul. To this union, three children were born. Her home was always open to everyone. Wherever there was a need, she was always there to fulfill it with her love and grace. Genealogy was very important to her, as she traced her lineage and made personal contact with all relatives. Hildreth had many hobbies and interests. She loved to paint ceramics and made each of her granddaughters a keepsake china doll. Gardening was another of her favorites and she always had a special place in her heart for wildlife--from the flowers that she tenderly cared for, that always gave her home a beautiful blanket of color, to the different species of birds which made their home and raised their young with the same loving tenderness that she nurtured her own family. She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church. She was very active and heavily involved in all aspects of her church. This union was blessed with three children, Norman, Beulah Mae and Mary Ann. Pearl was gifted in culinary arts, taking many prizes for her lovely cakes. In 1949 she was chosen to be in the annual Pillsbury Bake-Off in New York City. This was quite an honor for a Missouri farm lady. Pearl was also an Avon representative for several years. After her eyesight failed, she still kept busy making beautiful macrame plant hangers and purses for family members and friends. In 1980 she moved to an apartment in Clinton and resided there until February 1988 when she entered Westwood Nursing Home. Her confession to Christ came at an early age. Pearl was a member of the community Christian Church of Petersburg, later moving her membership to the Huntingdale Methodist Church, then to the Norris United Methodist Church. She attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Uel; an infant granddaughter, Judith Elrod, and her son-in-law, Chester Moore. She is survived by her children, Norman and wife, Doris Paul, Beulah Mae and husband, Glen Elrod, and Mary Ann Moore, all of Clinton; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
