RANK, George 1853 - 1909

1909 - Some four weeks ago, George Rank, living on East Ohio, took ill with 
typhoid fever and skilled medical aid was called but on Tuesday evening he 
breathed his last. He was 56 and was born in Springfield Township and married 
Louisa J. Streeby in 1872. Six children, three dying in infancy. Those surviving 
are Jacob of Springfield Township; Millie Robinson, also living there; Miss Olive, 
at home. Three sisters: Mrs. Rebecca Glover of Clinton, Mrs. Hannah Spring and 
Lydia Dirk of Clinton. No man stood better than George Rank. He owned one of the 
best farms in Springfield Township, besides his handsome home, which he bought 
of P. W. Whitlow and to which he moved to for the second time this Spring. He 
was a stock man and J. E. Bennett, who had been a close friend, said he was one of 
the best men he ever saw, honest, generous and kind and while not a member of a 
church, professioned religion before he passed away and made peace with his 
maker. Funeral at Mt. Olivet near to where sleeps his father, mother and two 
brothers. May Mother Earth rest lightly on this good man's grave. - Note: 
tombstone at Mt. Olivet Cemetery reads: Aged 56 Years, 5 Months, 17 Days.
