REDFORD OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== REDFORD, Alice BERRY n/a - n/a Mrs. Redford's Body Here For Burial - Mrs. Alice Redford, wife of Morgan Redford, and an aunt of Mrs. Sam Beaty, died at her home in Edmond, Okla., Sunday, November 8th. She is the mother of Rev. Courts Redford, president of the Southwest Baptist College. The body was shipped to Calhoun Tuesday afternoon and the funeral services were held from the Baptist church by Rev. R. I. Clemings, and burial was made in the Calhoun cemetery. Mrs. Redford's father, Jonathan T. Berry, was an early settler of Henry county and lived northwest of Calhoun. REDFORD, Henry Pettis 1842 - 1908 Henry Pettis Redford, born June 2, 1842, near Glasgow, Barren county, Kentucky, died hat his home in Calhoun, Henry county, Missouri, Dec. 29, 1908; funeral 10 o'clock, Dec. 30, at Calhoun Baptist church, services conducted by Rev. B. F. Lawler; text Genesis 25:8. The sermon was appropriate, replete with thought and comfort. The remains were laid to rest in Calhoun cemetery, beside his wife who preceded him to the better land on September 9, 1908. Henry P. Redford came to Missouri with his parents in 1870; was married to Mary C. Bronaugh, Nov. 26, 1874. To this union were born three children; Emma, James and Harry. For twenty-eight long years the deceased was subjected to severe affliction, but he bore his suffering without a murmur or complaint, saying at all times, 'twas all right, 'twas God's will. Brother Redford made profession of faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church at Glasgow, Ky., in 1866, and until death lived a consistent Christian life. He is gone; his chair is vacant. He has gathered about this physical frame the shroud and lain down to sleep. The great affliction that darkened the horizon of his life could not conceal the true nobility of his manly nature. Love animated his heart, sympathy and gratitude breathed in every tone. His kindly impulses and thoughtful words of helpfulness cast gleams of sunshine on our own pathway. The noblest trait in the character of this grand man was his devotion to his family. He never spoke of their kind ministries that tears did not unbidden start to his eyes. Gone, yes, he is gone from trouble into peace. He had many a weary day, many a sleepless night, but in the bright future which lies invisible to our view, he has found rest and repose and the sweetness of unending peace. The sorrowing children have our sincere' sympathy. REDFORD, Mary C. BRONAUGH 1836 - 1908 Mary C. (Bronaugh) Redford was born April 25th, 1836, in Mason county, Va. Her father was Thomas Jefferson Bronaugh; her mother was Nancy Henderson Bronaugh; whose excellent characters gave tone and elevated thought to their children. They settled near Calhoun, Henry county, Mo., in 1846. Five sons and two daughters were born to them: Drs. John and James, Columbus, David and Thomas, Mary C. and Emma. Thomas and Emma preceded Mary to the Glory land many years. Mary C. Bronaugh was converted and baptized into the fellowship of the Calhoun Baptist church in 1867, remaining faithful and devoted during life. She was married to Henry P. Redford Nov. 26, 1874. To this union were born three children - Emma, James and Harry. Sister Redford was a most excellent woman, strong minded, forceful in character, yet so softened and sweetened by grace as to be without harshness and asperity. No one whoever visited her home failed to be impressed with her kindness and hospitality. She was generous to a fault. All through her life she displayed those traits of true womanly character which made her worthy of the highest confidence. She was never heard to speak an unkind word to any one, but she was ready and willing to minister to them. So thoughtful, kind, gentle, patient and self-sacrificing, she seemed never to think of herself, but of others. There was no sacrifice, however great, she was not willing to make for her family and friends. she delighted in rendering service to others. Well did she know the secret and course of happy life. During the last years of her life she was unable to attend church much, but her soul yearned for God's house and the services of the Sanctuary. Her trust in the Savior had been unfaltering, and the blessed sense of His presence and sustaining grace in her last hours was vivid and very full of comfort. Her testimony to the saving power of her Lord will long linger in the hearts of her dear ones upon earth. From the presence of her husband, children and loved ones she went to the arms of the blessed Master. Thus passed into the Beyond on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, September the 9th, 1908, one of our best women. To the bereaved husband, whose grief is most pathetic, and to the sorrowing children, we extend our most hearty condolence. The floral tributes were banked about her beautiful casket in great profusion and the great congregation all evinced the high estimate in which she was held. The choir gave excellent selections of appropriate hymns. The text was Gen. 23rd chapter and part of the 2nd verse, And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. The sermon was by Rev. B. F. Lawler, pastor of the church when Sister Redford was converted and baptized in 1867. The grave was beautifully prepared and the ceremonies appropriate as the casket was lowered into its resting place where the body so precious to us will wait till the resurrection morning. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
