RICHARDS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== RICHARDS, Willard Lee 1918 - 1994 Willard Lee Richards was born October 22, 1918, near Urbana, to Jim and Maude Richards. He attended school there and made a confession of faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Hopewell Baptist Church of Urbana. He later joined the United States Army and served over four years in Alaska. He was a member of the VFW Post 1894 in Clinton. On February 3, 1946, he was married to Molly Belle Gentry at the Christian Church in Clinton. After a short time they made their home in Pacific, near St. Louis, where he worked for the railroad and Molly Belle taught school. They moved back to the farm near Clinton in 1964 where Willard worked for Alva Allen Industries awhile, then full time at home caring for a cow-calf operation. After retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed lots of time to hunt and fish and raise a big vegetable garden. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Molly Belle, of the home; one sister, Myrtle McCoy of Flemington, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Mr. Richards was critically injured in an auto accident on Friday, July 15. He never fully regained consciousness and died Monday, August 29, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, September 1, at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Rev. Bob Fenwick officiated. Kenneth Phegley sang "Calvary", "Shall We Gather At The River" and Mansion Over The Hilltop". Organist was Ron Doyle. Pallbearers were members of V.F.W. Post #1894.
