RICHARDSON OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== RICHARDSON, Emma May FINKS 1875 - 1927 Mrs. Richardson's Obituary - Emma May Finks, daughter of Milton D. and Betty F. Finks, was born near Calhoun, Missouri, June 21, 1875, and finished her earthly pilgrimage triumphantly at the family home in Calhoun, December 9th, 1927 at 10:15 a.m. She was converted and joined the Methodist chuch, South, soon after she was 12 years of age. She united in marriage with B. F. Richardson, April 4th, 1900, and to this union five children were born, being William, who preceded her in death eight years; Clay, Hazel, Betty and Lillian. Her husband, children, and her sister, Mrs. C. N. Richardson of Hughesville, and her brother, L. N. Finks of Muskogee, Okla., were all present at her passing. But she has builded a monument of memory that will live on forever, for she was at all times a good neighbor, a true friend, a patient loving wife and mother; never complaining about her suffering, but always trusting God. Calling loved ones and friends to her bedside, she gave them wonderful words of love, advice and comfort which can never be forgotten. Her beautiful thoughts were: "May the Sunlight of His love shine through the canopy of Heaven, making your days happy on this green garden of His." A dear one from us had gone, A vioice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in her home Which never can be filled. She longed for the land where partings are o'er, And death and the tomb divide hearts no more. Of what a glorious exchange for a Christian to leave this world of sin, suffering and temptation for the Holy atmosphere of Heaven. Thus closes a beautiful life. - Prepared by her friends. Funearl services were conducted Sunday, December 11th, at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. D. R. Holland, pastor. A quartet composed of Messrs. Fewel, Grigsby, Munday and Parks rendered some very beautiful selections. Interment was made in the Calhoun cemetery by the side of her son William. Pallbearers were: Dr. D. A. Pollard, W. C. Maupin, Rolla Jones, W. A. Brownfield, Ed Finks and Harry Finks. RICHARDSON, John W. n/a - 1886 The Clinton Eye - John W. Richardson, while bathing in Grand River near the rail- road bridge last Sabbath, August 29, 1886, and being unable to swim, was drowned before aid could be given. A wife and three children are left to mourn his untimely loss. RICHARDSON, Mary Elizabeth HOLLAND 1840 - 1928 Mrs. M. E. Richardson died at her home in Calhoun Saturday, May 19th. She had been in failing health for many years, and death came as a release of early sufferings. Mary Elizabeth Holland was born March 26th, 1840, near Morgantown, West Va. She was a delicate girl. she attended the subscription schools when she was able, but most of the time had a private tutor. Nobody would have thought she would have lived to be 88 years old. She was married March 20th, 1862, to Francis Blackshere Richardson, on the old Virginia homestead. In April, 1869, her husband came to Henry county, putting in a crop on what was then known as the Bledsoe Mound, near Lucas. That fall he returned to West Virginia and in October that year, with their two small boys, they came to Henry county, which had since been their home. At first the family lived with friends until March, when they moved to a tenant house on the farm, living there several years, then bought a farm near George school, until they purchased a farm two miles west of Calhoun, where they built an attractive modern home and reared their family. After their sons were married they rented the farm and moved to Clinton living there until their health became so poor, their sons had them move to Calhoun where they could care for them. Her husband died several years ago. In her girlhood she made a number of applique quilts of beautiful and rare designs. this was the way the young girls amused themselves then, instead of running around like now. One is put together with muslin, which cost 75 cents a yard, which shows how cheap by comparison muslin is today. She is survived by the following children: L. L. and B. F. Richardson, Calhoun; L. C. Richardson, Calhoun; C. N. Richardson, Hughesville. She also leaves a number of interesting grandchildren and several great- grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the M. E. church, doing much good in the cause of her Master. She is the last member of her family to go. Her funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. D. H. Holland, at the Calhoun Methodist church, assisted by Rev. Chapman, pastor of the Clinton Franklin street M. E. Church, South, who was raised in her neighborhood. Interment in the Calhoun cemetery beside her husband. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
