ROBBINS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== ROBBINS, Mary Henrietta HAMILTON 1929 - 1997 Mary Henrietta (Hamilton) Robbins was born September 18, 1929, to John C. and Thelma Pinkston Hamilton. She was the eldest of four children, John Lee Hamilton of Lathrop, California, Lucinda Rodgers of San Diego, California, and Dawn Rose Beasley of Creighton, her brothers and sisters all survive. She died September 28, 1997, at the Golden Valley Hospital, Clinton, at the age of 68 years. She attended elementary and high school in Clinton. On May 26, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, Robert Robbins, Sr. placed a gold band on her finger that was never removed from the finger he placed it until it became medically necessary to do so during her hospitalization just a few hours prior to her death. That ring continued to be a symbol of the unbroken love they shared for 48 years. While in Chicago, two children were born, Linda Miller of Warrensburg and Robert Robbins, Jr. of Clinton. The family moved from Chicago back to Clinton in 1959 so the children would not be forced to attend school and live in the big city. Mary worked outside the home prior to the birth of her children, and after her children were older. However, her first priority was always her children and her husband. Mary became a member of Corinth Baptist Church in 1959, when returning to Missouri. She later held membership at Bethlehem Baptist Church in her neighborhood. When the church was closed, she moved her membership to First Baptist Church of Clinton. Because of a number of years of serious illnesses, Mary was unable to attend church services regularly. Following carotid artery bypass surgery early in 1997, she was more physically able to leave the house for short periods of time. This was also the time her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Marvin Miller, began a church in Clinton. From April 1997 to the time of her death, she was an active and devoted member of Mount Calvary Apostolic Church, 105 S. Washington, Clinton. Though only being an established church for five months, she was dearly loved by each and every member. The Sunday morning service the day of her death was filled with glowing memorials and tributes to her life. She was fondly referred to as Mother Robbins by the members. Even though most had only known her a short time, her memory will live on always in the minds and hearts of the church family. Each and every person Mary met loved her immediately. She was a most loving and caring person. Her genuine concern for all was apparent in her speech and her actions. She formed many lifelong friendships as a result. Many people have remarked about the impact Mary has had on their lives. Some have said you could always call Mary when you were sad or sick or had a problem. No matter how ill she might be herself, she never let you know, and always made time for you. She would always try to cheer you up, and you would always feel better when you finished your conversation. She loved people and she loved God. She was extremely proud of her five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They are Marva Miller of Kansas City, Daniel Vaughn, Jacob Miller and Samuel Miller of Warrensburg, Robin Robbins of Clinton and Taylor Miller of Kansas City. Her house and purse were filled with pictures of them from infancy to present. She never failed to delight them at Christmas and their birthdays with cards and gifts. Even though she was homebound for many years, she utilized mail order catalogs and made sure that there was always something to give another for any occasion that arose. Mary will never be forgotten by her family and many friends. She is loved and will be greatly missed. The world was a better place because of Mary. We are so grateful to God that He allowed us the time that He did to have her in our lives. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel Wednesday, October 1, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dana Burris officiating. Music was On The Wings Of A Dove, sang by Roger Plumlee, Amazing Grace, sang by a granddaughter, Marva Miller, and Serenaded By Angels. Scott Brooks was the organist. Pallbearers were Barry Wilson, Richard Moritz, John Harrington, Jim Ragsdel, Leonard Mallotte and Jerry Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Anderson, Charles Hull, Ken Lasswell, Raymond Lucas, Claude Nolting and Randy Walden. Burial was in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
