SEATON OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== SEATON, Beulah Irene GRIFFITH 1908 - 1995 Beulah Irene Seaton, daughter of Jobe Griffith and Halcyon Smith Griffith, was born August 26, 1908, in the Golden Gate community in Henry County. She died January 28, 1995, at her home in Clinton. She was married to George Homer Seaton on November 18, 1939. To this union one son was born, Ray Homer Seaton. She is survived by her husband, Homer Seaton of the home; one son, ray Seaton; daughter-in-law, Judy Seaton, both of Clinton; two grandchildren, Robbie Seaton of Clinton and Ronda Seaton of Columbia; also one sister, Nona Mae Griffith of Clinton and a host of other relatives and friends. She was a member of the Garland Baptist Church and spent her entire married life northwest of Clinton on a farm. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, at the Sickman & Dunning Funeral Home with rev. Don Eaton officiating. Burial was at Englewood Cemetery with Harold Smith, Norman Smith, David Huenefeldt, Rawleigh Crooks, Eugene West and Orville West serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Smith and Bill Beebe. SEATON, Dorothy SMITH 1904 - 1979 Dorothy Seaton, 74, of Chilhowee, died March 18, 1979, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton. She was born Oct 16, 1904 in Kansas, the daughter of Charlie and Jenny Schidler Smith. She married Fred Seaton Nov 15, 1925 in Clinton. Mrs. Seaton was a resident of the Norris community in Henry County for more than 33 years before moving to Chilhowee 16 years ago. She is survived by her husband, Fred; three sons, Fred B. Jr., Houston, TX, Robert, Windsor, and Joseph, Chilhowee; six daughters, Mrs. Ferrel (Ethel) Wisdom of Chilhowee, Mrs. Fred (Elinore) Campbell of Chilhowee, Mrs. Don (Freda) Wilson of Creston, CA, Mrs. Ronald (Genevieve) Stanislaus of Curryville, Mrs. Ronald (Laura) Jenkins of Raytown and Josephine Jacobs of Medina, WI. Funeral services were held at Ward Funeral Home in Chilhowee. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. SEATON, George "Homer" 1914 - 1995 George "Homer" Seaton, 80, Clinton, died suddenly at his home May 6, 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah, in January of this year. - George (Homer) Seaton was born in Maries County, 30 miles south of Jefferson City near the little town of Meta. Homer's father, mother and himself moved to Henry County four miles north of Clinton on a small farm when he was four years old. On this small farm is where he spent his childhood, and then on into manhood. At the age of 26 he married Beulah Irene Griffith on November 18, 1939. To this union one son was born, Ray Homer Seaton, on November 29, 1944. Homer spent his life farming and other jobs, and taking care of his mother and father, and his wife's mother and father. Homer started work at the Reliance Coal Company October 15, 1944. He worked at the coal mine until the mine closed down in 1958. He then went to work at International Harvester at Clinton as a mechanic. He worked there for three years. He then went to work at the Clinton Food Service Locker Plant. He worked there until June 9, 1982. All this time he still farmed some. In 1950 Homer and his wife, Beulah, and son, Ray, moved to another farm eight miles northwest of Clinton, where he lived the rest of his adult life. In his later years he enjoyed many things, such as working in the garden and the yard, and working in his shop and attending to his many flowers. He found great joy and happiness in visiting friends and family and taking care of his dogs and cats. He was a member of the Garland Baptist Church. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sarah Seaton; wife, Beulah Irene Seaton; five sisters, Lida, Clara, Dica, Ruth and Iva; five brothers, Lark, Fred Albert, James and Everett Seaton. He is survived by his son, Ray Homer Seaton of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Judy Seaton, also of Clinton; two grandchildren, Ronda Seaton of Columbia, and Robbie Seaton of Clinton, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Rev. Don Eaton officiated at the funeral services on May 9, at the Sickman & Dunning Chapel. Special music selections were "Beyond The Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art". Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Seaton, Bill Beebe and Oral George. Pallbearers were David Huenefeldt, Bill Huenefeldt, Rawleigh Crooks, Eugene West, Orvel West and Joe Seaton for burial in the Englewood Cemetery. SEATON, Jeffery Aaron 1997 - 1997 Jeffery Aaron Seaton, infant son of Timothy Wade and Angela Christine Chandler Seaton, died Friday, January 3, 1997, at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton. Jeffery is survived by his parents and one brother, Andrew Wade Seaton of the home; his maternal grandmother, Diana L. Bartlett of Clinton; his maternal grandfather, Thomas Chandler, Sr. of Stover; his paternal grandparents, Ellis and Debra Seaton of Windsor; his maternal great-grandparents, Ralph and Gloria Gano of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and his paternal great-grandparents, Herbert and Ada Seaton of Windsor, and Shirley Firrel of Disney, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the first Christian Church of Windsor, with Rev. Howard Cupp, Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor, under the direction of the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton. SEATON, Mary Ann COOK 1870 - 1891 Died at her home three miles southwest of Hartwell, Mary Ann, wife of Robert Seaton and daughter of Jno. W. Cook, December 23, 1891. Deceased was born January 20, 1870, on the Old homestead about eight miles west of Clinton and was married to Robert Seaton December 23, 1886. She leaves a heart-broken husband, 3 sweet children (two girls and one boy), an aged father and mother and a host of friends. Funeral services at Hickory Grove School. (note: cemetery marker has death date of Dec 24 1891) SEATON, Robert 1864 - 1957 Robert Seaton Dies At Age of 92 - Last rites for Robert Seaton, 92, who died Jan. 5, 1957, were held at the Vansant Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m., Jan. 7, with the Rev. L. L. Johnston, officiating. Accompanied by Mrs. Calvin Kent, Rev. Johnston sang "Just When I Need Him Most" and "Beyond the Sunset". Pallbearers were J. O. Wilson, Chas. Shroder, Will Winkler, Don Labadie, Ora Wisdom and A. O. Greasher. Interment was in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Robert Seaton was born Sept. 20, 1864, in Hardin County, Iowa, the son of John and Mary Ellen Lambright Seaton. He was named for his grandfather, Robert Seaton who with his wife immigrated from Ireland, the land of his birth, to America, settling in Guernsey County, Ohio, where Robert's father, John Jackson Seaton, was born. Before the War Between the States, John, his wife, the former Mary Jane Kimple who died in 1851, a year after her son's birth, and the son, Phillip, moved to Hardin County, Robert Seaton's birthplace. Children of the second marriage, besides Robert, were two other boys, George Henry and John William, and a girl, Elizabeth Nancy, all of whom preceded him in death. Shortly after Robert Seaton's birth the family purchased land and lived in Johnson County a few years, then moved to Henry County, near Urich, where each family member died in the Robert Seaton home. Old timers readily recall the Seatons and their families and have fond memories of them. Affectionately known to all as Bob, Mr. Seaton married Mollie Cook to which union three children were born. Mrs. Nels (Mary Etta) Larson, who died at her home in North Dakota, Mrs. Del Inks, Alberta, Canada, and Maurice Ernest Seaton, south of Urich. His wife preceded him in death on Christmas Eve, 1891. In 1893 he married Minnie Jane Correll who with her son, Cecil, now living east of Urich, and the Seaton family, continued to reside in the community south of Urich until about 11 years ago. They then moved to 310 North Water Street in Clinton. There they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In November of 1954, his wife preceded him in death. He continued to live in the home until illness overtook him in the spring of 1956 and he was hospitalized at Clinton General. Upon his release he was cared for at the Loftin Rest Home where he succumbed at 8:00 p.m., Jan. 5, 1957. He united with the White Oak Methodist Church about 45 years ago.
