SHOMAKER OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== SHOMAKER, Mamie n/a - 1903 (1903) - Mamie is Gone - The black winged angel of death has again visited the home of Bud Shomaker, snapping the strong cords of parental love, taking from him the one whom he most trusted. Surely the hand of affliction has been laid heavy upon this home. Some three years ago his wife was taken from him leaving the care of his family upon his oldest daughter, Maude, who faithfully discharged her duty in caring for her younger brothers and sisters. One year ago Jan. 15th, Maude was taken from the home, and once again a sad gloom was cast over the home, thus made desolate by her death. Now the care of the family and household fell to Mamie the oldest daughter. Well and faithful did she perform the duties entrusted to her, ever looking and caring for the little ones that were left without a mother. Nine months ago the hand of affliction cane upon Mamie. Little did she think at this time that her life would be taken from her so soon. Hemorrhage of the lungs was the first signs, then followed with other symptoms until it soon developed into consumption of short duration. Realizing that she could not get well she tried to be as cheerful and pleasant as she could, always seeming pleasant to those who came to see her. Within a few hours of her death she told those that were with her that she could not live but a little while and wished that the Lord would take her and thus her suffering. Surely she was a faithful Christian sufferer. Death came to her at eleven o'clock, Feb. 6, 1903, age 18 years. Thus ends the life of one so young, but he who is wiser than us all has said "Suffer it to be so for when I bring a cloud a bow shall be in the cloud to give place to sorrow and grief." May this heart broken family gaze with delight upon this beautiful bow of promise. Her remains were laid to rest in the Bear Creek cemetery 'mid the sorrowing crowd of those who loved her most. Funeral services were by Rev. Pattison, her pastor. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
