SORRELS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== SORRELS, Opal Marie HUENEFELDT 1938 - 1994 Opal Marie Sorrels, daughter of Henry William and Lillian Seaton Huenefeldt, was born February 2, 1938, near Montrose. She died October 6, 1994, at her home. She attended Montrose school and graduated from Miami High School. After the death of her father she and her mother moved to Clinton. She worked at the United Telephone Company for several years. On September 2, 1956, she was married to C. O. Sorrels at Drake's Chapel United Methodist Church. To this union a daughter, Carla Marie Sorrels, was born. She united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Montrose at an early age, later moving her membership to Drake's Chapel. Her life was centered around her family and her home. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and daughter-in-law. She loved to work in her flowers and garden and everything that she put in the ground seemed to flourish for her - making an array of beauty in her yard that was admired by many. Her love and steadfast faith in God never wavered. She was a survivor to the end, firmly standing on God's healing promises, believing, by faith, that she would conquer her illness. Her mother, father and a brother, Raymond L. Dyer, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing her devoted husband, daughter, and mother-in-law, Lillian Sorrels, numerous relatives and many friends. Thus ends a beautiful life, lived to its fullest by one who was always ready to lend a helping hand to her relatives, neighbors and friends when needed. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton. Rev. Terry Lowe officiated. A trio of Lisa Gurley, Carol Rucker and Jackie Stinnett sang "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by Scott Brooks, organist. Pallbearers were Doug Thomason, Dale Endicott, Dr. Carroll Wetzel, Tom Skaggs, Kent Combs and Kent Cable. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. SORRELS, William Kennedy 1870 - 1928 William Kennedy Sorrels was born November 26, 1870, in Murphysboro, IL. He moved to Missouri when just a child, and had lived in and around Calhoun most of his life. He was married to Miss Mary Susan Woolery, November 17, 1896. To this union three children were born - one son, Olen, at home; twin girls, Mrs. Ruth Holt, and Mrs. Ruby Sauerhagen, near the home. Mr. Sorrels took his bed September 28, and was taken to the Stebbins hospital in Clinton, October 8, for an operation, but his condition was such that they could not operate, and he died October 11. He was 57 years, 10 months and 14 days old. He leaves his wife, three children and three grandchildren, here, and one brother, John Sorrels, of Barstow, TX. The funeral was preached at Drakes Chapel Saturday and his body was laid in Calhoun cemetery under a bed of flowers to await the resurrection morn. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
