STEVENS OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== STEVENS, Porter Lee 1900 - 1957 Funeral services for Porter Lee Stevens, 57, Kansas City, Mo. who died July 18 at Downtown Hospital in the city after a four-year illness, were conducted at 2 p.m., July 21, at the Urich Baptist Church by the Rev. C. L. Conner. The Misses Dixie Mosser and Bettie Shanks sang " Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Garden of Prayer", accompanied by Mrs. Mary Goodman, organist. Pallbearers Elvin Garey, Don Greufe, Herbert Ingham, Harley Gibson, Bobbie Smith, and Ernest Lute. Internment was in the Hickory Grove cemetery under the direction of Brown and Graham Funeral home. Porter Lee Stevens, eldest child of Grant and Nora Ellen Stevens, was born Feb. 10, 1900, Near Urich, Mo. He was united in marriage to Alta Nickols in 1923 to which union two children were born, William Grant of Gashland, Mo. and Mrs. Jack (Donna Lee) Haskins of Urich. In September of 1951 he married Mary Lute of Kansas City, Mo. His entire life was spent in and around Urich until about seven years ago when he moved to the City. There he was employed with the Gustin-Bacon Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Lin-Wayne Baptist Church of Kansas City, Mo. Surviving are his wife, and son and daughter before mentioned; a granddaughter, Nancy Ann Stevens; two sisters Mrs. Mary Hargrave and Mrs. Lola Mae Smith, and four nieces, two nephews and families all of Urich; a number of other relatives and friends. Relatives attending the services were : Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stevens, Nevada, Mo., Mrs. Sherman Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stevens, Schell City, Mo., Mrs. Irvin Swan, Springfield, Mo., Mrs. John Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tschabrun, Mrs. Leota Hendrich, Miss Louella Wilson, Clinton; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lute and children of Kansas City, Mo.
