VESTAL OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== VESTAL, Charles Lee 1922 - 1998 Charles Lee (Chuck) Vestal, 75, Arkadelphia, AR, died September 14, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center, Arkadelphia. He was born December 13, 1922, in Calhoun, MO, the son of the late John and Hattie Duncan Vestal. He was a retired postal employee, an elder of the First Christian Church of Arkadelphia, a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a former officer of the local Postal Workers Union. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Bloomfield Vestal; a son, Mike Vestal of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Vestal of Arkadelphia; a brother, Rolla Vestal of Olathe, KS; a sister, Marjorie Parks of Lewis, MO, and a granddaughter, Lee Ann Vestal of Tulsa, OK. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Phillip Gillham; a son, Larry Lynn Vestal, and a daughter, Laura Ann Vestal. Funeral services were held September 16 at the church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Arkadelphia. VESTAL, Hattie DUNCAN 1891 - 1978 Hattie Vestal, daughter of John Oscar and Martha Boston Duncan, was born August 2, 1891 at Kingsville, MO, and died Feb 5, 1978 at her home in Lewis, at the age of 86. She was married to John P. Vestal, February 22, 1920 in Calhoun, who preceded her in death June 25, 1958. She spent the last 58 years of her life in the Highland community. She was a retired school teacher, having taught 17 years in country schools, in and near the community, was a charter member of the Loyal Neighbors Club and helped to organize the Highland Sunday School 42 years ago, and served as a teacher for most of that time. She is survived by two sons, Rolla of Olathe, KS, and Charles of Arkadelphia, AR, and one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Parks of Lewis; two brothers, Charles Duncan and Dewey Duncan of Kingsville; two sisters, Dena Duncan of Kingsville and Marie Birdsey of Creede, CO. Funeral services were held Feb 9, 1978, at 1:00 p.m. at the Consalus Chapel.
