VIOLETTE OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== VIOLETTE, Edward 1800 - 1887 Clinton MO, Nov 12 1887 - About four weeks ago, Edward Violette was here on a visit to his son, Thomas and when he returned home was feeling better than for months; but in a few days after his arrival he sent for the Methodist minister and together they talked of the future, Mr. Violette at that time not being a member of any church, though he said, "I have been a Christian but a few days and have made my peace with my maker and am ready to go." And on Nov. 4, 1887, his labors ceased and the portals of heaven opened to receive him. Before his death, he called to his wife to bring out some relics he had not revealed the history thereof, which had been handed down for generations, consisting of covers and spoons. Altho the quilts are over 150 years old, they are in good state of preservation and will outwear those made at the present day. The spoons are about 200 years old. The relics were divided between Thomas Violette of this city and a brother at Versailles and are highly prized. He was born May 1, 1800 at Harper's Ferry, Va. and at an early age moved to Logan county, Ky. In 1844, he came to this state and settled in Johnson county where he has since resided. Leaves a wife, aged 72, and 7 children. Burial in the Blackwater graveyard, 13 miles north of Holden, Sunday afternoon. VIOLETTE, Irene May 1883 - 1887 Clinton, MO - On last Monday afternoon, Irene, little 4 1/2 year old girl of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Violette, breather her last, with diphtheria. Sunday she went to Sunday School but complained some during the day. Alas, He who doeth all things well in a few hours called the little angle to her home in heaven. Burial in Englewood. ==================================================================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
