WEHMEYER OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== WEHMEYER, Betty Jo SKAGGS 1927 - 1996 Mrs. Betty Jo Wehmeyer, Creighton, was born September 19, 1927, near Humansville, the daughter of Walter and Anne (Dixon) Skaggs. she died Friday, July 5, 1996, at her home near Creighton, at the age of 68 years, nine months and 16 days. On June 17, 1946, Betty was united in marriage to George Jewell Wehmeyer in Mound City, Kansas. Betty was a homemaker and a former rural school teacher. She was a Baptist and had attended Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar. Betty had lived in Holden before moving to Creighton in 1958. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Nolan Skaggs and a sister, Steata Colson. She is survived by her husband, George J. Wehmeyer of the home; a son, Delbert L. Wehmeyer and his wife, Laverne, Creighton; a daughter, Kathryn Sue Crawford and her husband, Alex, Harrisonville; three grandchildren, Alex, Lisa and Jesse: six step-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Perkins, Hot Spring, Arkansas; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were Monday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at Dickey Funeral Home, Garden City. Rev. John Kukovich officiated. Mrs. Carletta Hodges sang Amazing Grace and In The Garden, accompanied by Mrs. Helen Kenney, pianist. Honorary pallbearers were Ray Bates, V. H. Caldwell, Jr., Marcus L. Cumpton, A. J. McCoy, Walter Purevich and Roy Lee Wilson. Pallbearers were Alex G. Crawford, Alex J. Crawford, John Herren, Travis Patrick, Melton Thornburg and Delbert L. Wehmeyer. Wehmeyer, 86, Kansas City, KS, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, at Maple Hill Funeral Home; burial at 2 p.m. Monday, at Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee, MO. Mrs. Wehmeyer was born May 2, 1913, in Blairstown, MO, and had lived in Kansas City, KS, since 1953. She had worked in the garment industry for 25 years, the last 13 1/2 years, of which were spent at Krest Originals. Eddie was a member of the Gospel Temple and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Local #274. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; two sons, Charles Boyd and Clarence Eugene; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Philips; seven brothers; two grandsons, Douglas Phillips, Jeffrey Wehmeyer, and a great-grandchild, Melissa Phillips. Survivors include, daughter, Vera Lee Cowin, Spring Hill, KS; brother, Charles Waugh, Kansas City, KS; 10 grandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Martin of the Norris community) WEHMEYER, George Jewell 1926 - 1996 George Jewell Wehmeyer of Creighton was born January 28, 1926, near Creighton, the son of John Forsyth and Bonnie Leeota (Farnsworth) Wehmeyer. He died Saturday, September 21, 1996, at Golden Years Care Services, Harrisonville, at the age of 70 years, seven months and 23 days. On June 17, 1946, George was united in marriage to Betty Joe Skaggs in Mound City, Kansas. George was a dairyman and had lived near Holden before moving to near Creighton in 1958. He was an Army veteran receiving a Purple Heart in action in the Philippines during World War II. George was a member of the Mid-American Dairy Association and had attended Warrensburg Teachers College, Warrensburg. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on July 5, 1996, and a brother, Loy Wehmeyer. He is survived by a son, Delbert L. Wehmeyer and his wife, Laverne, Creighton; a daughter, Kathryn Sue Crawford and her husband, Alex, Harrisonville; three grandchildren, Alex, Lisa and Jesse; six step-grandchildren; 16 step-great- grandchildren; four brothers, William Wehmeyer, Ashburnham, Massachusetts, Edgar Wehmeyer, Independence, Robert Wehmeyer, Harrisonville, and Richard Wehmeyer, Creighton; a sister, Genevieve Carlson, Kansas City; other relatives and many friends. Burial and military services at the Garden City Cemetery. WEHMEYER, John B. 1838 - 1921 John B. Wehmeyer died at the home of his son, Geo. Wehmeyer, near Urich, Feb. 18th. He was born in Prussia, April 29, 1838. He came with his parents to Warren county, Mo., in 1842. He served in the Union Army during the civil War with the Third Missouri Cavalry, and was first duty Sergeant and Commissary of Company F. He married Mrs. Mary Ann Single at St. Louis, March 6, 1867 and moved to Henry county a few days later. This had been his home ever since. Four children were given to this union, three of whom survive: Wm. H., Geo., S. and Robert Wehmeyer. In his youth he was a member of the German Lutheran church. In 1905, he united with the Creighton Presbyterian church. He was loyal to his country, church and God and served as an Elder in the church until his death. His wife died in 1903 and since that time he had made his home with his children. The funeral services were conducted at his late home, Feb. 19th, by Rev. S. C. McDonald, after which his body was laid in the Morrow cemetery. WEHMEYER, Robert Raymond 1910 - 1992 Robert Raymond Wehmeyer of rural Creighton was born April 8, 1910, near Creighton, the son of William Henry and Pearl Adelaid (Forsyth) Wehmeyer. He departed this life December 26, 1992, at Westwood Nursing Center, Clinton, at the age of 82 years, eight months and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Ruth Lucille Solomon on December 17, 1930, in Clinton. He was a farmer and stockman until his retirement in 1978. He was a deacon and elder of Quick City Christian Church near Holden and a 30 year member of Bogard Township Board in Henry County. He was a lifelong resident of rural Creighton. besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred W. and John F. Wehmeyer; three sisters, Mary Hunter, Ruth Hough and infant sister, Eva Wehmeyer. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille Wehmeyer, of the home; one son, Dale Wehmeyer, and his wife, Mary Alice, of Creighton; one daughter, Donna Borum, and her husband, Dee, of Creighton; five grandchildren, Danita, Diana, Steven, Kendra and Brian; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were Tuesday, December 29, 1992, at 2 p.m. at the Dickey Chapel in Garden City. Rev. Robert L. Hoffman officiated. Musical selections were Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art. Pallbearers were Brian Borum, Randy Cooper, Gary Dechman, Reagan Richardson, Doug Wagoner and Steven Wehmeyer. Burial was in Grant Cemetery near Creighton. WEHMEYER, Ruth Lucille SOLMON 1911 - 1996 Mrs. Ruth Lucille Wehmeyer of Creighton was born August 19, 1911, near Latour, the daughter of Angus G. and Mamie (French) Solomon. She died Saturday, February 24, 1996, at Westwood Nursing Center, Clinton, at the age of 84 years, six months and five days. On December 17, 1930, Lucille was unite din marriage to Robert Raymond Wehmeyer in Clinton. Lucille was a homemaker and was a very talented seamstress and also enjoyed restoring antique furniture. She was a lifelong member of the Quick City Christian Church and served as a Sunday school superintendent, on the church board and was president of the Christian Women's Fellowship for a number of years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on December 26, 1992; a brother, Leonard, and her twin sister, Louise Garrett. She is survived by a son, Dale Wehmeyer and his wife, Mary Alice; a daughter, Donna Borum and her husband, Dee, both of Creighton; five grandchildren, Danita Wagoner, Diana Richardson, Steve Wehmeyer, Kendra Cooper and Brian Borum; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were Wednesday, February 28, at 10 a.m. at the Dickey Chapel, Garden City. Rev. John Kukovich officiated. Musical selections were Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art. WEHMEYER, Wilbur Ray 1914 - 1994 Wilbur Ray Wehmeyer, son of George and Ettie Schnorf Wehmeyer, was born on January 29, 1914, near Blairstown on the family farm. He passed away Monday, September 12, 1994, at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 14 days. Ray attended Brushy Grade School and graduated from Blairstown High School. He married Sylvia Daphne Waugh on January 21, 1939. He was a farmer. He was a member of Blairstown Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder before transferring his membership to Lucas United Methodist Church. Ray served several years on the Blairstown School Board and the Bogard Township Board. He was a past member of the Urich Lion's Club, where he served in several offices, and also a member of the Lucas Men's Club. Ray's greatest joy was watching his grandchildren in their various sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of the home; one son, Ronald Gene Wehmeyer and daughter-in-law Dixie Wehmeyer of Urich; one daughter, Judith Ann Doll and son- in-law Daniel L. Doll of Urich; five grandchildren and two granddaughters-in-law, Brent Wehmeyer and wife Deann, Marta Wehmeyer, Douglas Doll and wife Melanie, Dana Doll, and Devin Doll; and one brother, LeRoy Wehmeyer of Carmichael, Ca. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Services were at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 1994, at Lucas United Methodist Church under the direction of Consalus Chapel of Urich with Rev. Pam Morrison officiating. Special music was Hymn of Praise and Surely The Presence of the Lord with soloist Linda Wilson and organist Nettie Mouse. Pallbearers were Larry Barnett, Claude Jones, Gary Sloan, Wayne Mouse, Marcus Cumpton, and Donald Ward. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Newman, Ted Legall, Virgil Barnett, Tom Wilson, Kenny Vogt, Alvin Dickenson, Gene McCalmon, and Willis Brown.
