WILSON OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== WILSON, Annie Marie VAN ALLEN 1855 - 1923 St. Clair County Democrat, Feb 1 1923 - Mrs. Wilson, widow of the late Dr. J. S. Wilson, who was a brother of J. Y. and Thomas Wilson of Osceola, Mo., died at the home of her brother, John Van Allen, about seven miles West of Deepwater, Mo. on Jan. 22, 1923, after a lingering illness of several years. Annie Marie Van Allen was born near Albany, N.Y., May 22, 1855. She was married to Dr. J. S. Wilson in 1872 in Osceola, Mo. To this union was born but one child which died in infancy. She united with the Christian Church in early womanhood and at the time of her death was a member at Deepwater, Mo. Dr. Wilson practiced medicine at Deepwater for some twenty five years prior to his death, which occurred about five years ago. She was the daughter of Judge Van Allen who was a judge of St. Clair Co. some years ago. Her funeral services were conducted by H. E. Carpenter, of the Osceola Christian Church, at the home on Jan. 23 at 10 o'clock, after which the remains were brought to Osceola and laid to rest by the side of her husband. She leaves as immediate relatives an only brother, John Van Allen, to mourn her loss, but a number of friends in the community where she has lived and died. WILSON, Blanche Mae MURPHY CHURCH 1897 - 1965 Mrs. Blanche Wilson, 68, of 601 S. Carter, Clinton, died at Wetzel Hospital, Dec 14, 1965, where she was a patient since Dec 7. Death was attributed to a blood clot following surgery. Funeral services to be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec 16, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton. Pallbearers are Hobart Sell, Bob Garrett, Giles Wheeler, Ray Shoemaker, Bob Stone and George F. Scott. Interment in Englewood Cemetery. Blanche Mae Murphy, daughter of William H. and Lillie Huckaby Murphy, was born near Deepwater, April 23, 1897. She grew to womanhood in the community of her birth and in March of 1916 was married to Wade Church. Four sons and a daughter were born to them. Mr. Church died 22 Jan 1941, and in June of 1943, she was married to Jacob R. Wilson, who preceded her in death, Aug 2, 1952. She was an accomplished pianist and was widely known in the area as she shared her talent at many social functions. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Allen (Wanda) Wilson, Clinton; four sons, Julian, Delmar (Babe), Marvin (Jack) and Norman Church, all of Clinton (Mrs. Church played the piano with W. P. Childers, Hobart Sell, Giles Wheeler and others at social functions) WILSON, Carl Leonard 1911 - 1980 Carl Leonard Wilson, youngest son of William B. and Cella Adell Davis Wilson, was born February 20, 1911, at Roscoe, MO, and passed away November 14, 1980, at his home, Route 1, Clinton. One of nine children, Carl spent his childhood on farms in St. Clair and Henry counties. His dad passed away when Carl was only 12 years of age, and he quit school soon after to help support his mother and family. On January 16, 1929, he was united in marriage to Hazel Viola Overturf. To this union was born five sons and one daughter. Carl spent all of his adult life engaged in farming in Johnson, Lafayette and Henry counties until the time of his retirement, seven years before his death. Preceding Carl in death were his mother and father, two sisters, five brothers and two infant sons. He leaves to mourn his passing: his devoted wife, Hazel; three sons and wives, Bobby Joe and Naida, Junior and Corlene of Clinton and Harold Dean and Mildred, Overland Park, KS; one daughter and husband, Georgia Mae and Charles Perry, Olathe, KS. Funeral services were held November 17 at 2 p.m., at Consalus Funeral Home. Burial was in Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee. Pallbearers were Joe White, Bob Hays, Floyd Wilson, Donnie Wilson, Gene Wilson and Carl W. Barnhart. WILSON, Carlos Charles 1909 - 1996 Carlos Charles Wilson, 87, Bolivar, died Thursday, September 5, 1996, in Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility following a short illness. Mr. Wilson was a longtime resident of Bolivar and Polk County, a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church. He was born June 25, 1909, in Weaubleau, to Noah W. and Lorene L. (Bertina) Wilson. He was retired after working 46 years for the Missouri Highway Department. He was united in marriage to Tracie E. Scurlock who preceded him in death. In 1964 he was married to Benny (May) Brakebill. He is survived by his wife, Benny, of Bolivar; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth W. and Vivian Wilson of Clinton, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence (Jr.) and Billye Wheeler of Bolivar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Wesley and Lorene Laurie (Bertina) Wilson, and his first wife. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 7, 1:30 p.m., Pitts Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Ray Leininger officiating with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar. Pallbearers will be J. V. Wommack, Keith Parminter, Eugene Allen, Gary Stewart, Doran Emmert and Jim Forgey. WILSON, Charles Albert 1912 - 1995 Charles Albert (Charlie) Wilson, the eldest son of Noah E. and Maude E. (Hunter) Wilson, was born September 6, 1912, near Hartwell, in Henry County. He died June 8, 1995, at Westwood Nursing Home in Clinton at the age of 82 years, nine months and two days. Charlie and Eula Marcum were married in 1934 and were the parents of four children, three sons, Dale, Charles and Dean and one daughter, Irene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula; two sons, Dale and Dean; his parents and one sister, Elsie Marie. He is survived by his daughter and son-in- law, Irene and LeRoy Helm of Independence and son, Charles of Clinton; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Raymond and wife, Vera of Lake Park, Ga., R. C. and wife Dorothy of Clinton; one sister, Alta and husband, Max Corwin of Holden; two daughters-in-law, Linda Wilson and Peggy Dietz. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel Monday, June 12, at 1 p.m. with rev. Carl Whitacre officiating. "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Sweet Bye and Bye" were sung by David L. Mills and Peggy Arthur with Mrs. Arthur playing the organ. Pallbearers were D. C. Hunter, Max Corwin, Don Corwin, Ron Corwin, Rick Corwin and Randy Corwin. WILSON, Dean 1911 - 1993 Dean Wilson, 81, Clinton, died Friday, March 26, 1993 at Golden Valley Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 30, 1993 at 2 p.m. at Consalus Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Wilson was a fireman in Clinton from 1953 to 1964. He was then employed at the Lake City Arsenal from 1965 to 1972 and at that time returned to Clinton. Until recently he operated the Glasscock Car Wash and worked for Gregg Smith Motors, both in Clinton. He is survived by two daughters, Patty Crabtree, Sudi Browett; a son, Albert Wilson, all of Independence; five brothers, Owen, Clayton, Glen, Allen Wilson all of Clinton, and Cleo of Kansas City; one sister, Ethel Bradley, Clinton; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. WILSON, Edward Dean 1942 - 1993 Edward Dean Wilson, 51, 648 SE 450, Clinton, died Sunday, September 26, 1993 at Golden Valley Hospital - Dean Wilson was born January 21, 1942, at Urich. He was the youngest son of Charles and Eula Wilson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale, and his mother. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; his father, Charles Wilson of Clinton; a brother Charles Wilson of Clinton, and his sister, Irene Helm of Independence. He is also survived by a host of other relatives. He was especially fond of his nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard a destroyer, The U.S.S. Porterfield. He attended Moehler Barber College in Kansas City and was a barber in the Clinton area for many years. He owned and operated Wilson Fireworks for several years. He was an active member of the Golden Valley Saddle Club and enjoyed all activities pertaining to his horses. He will be remembered best by his spontaneous personality and quick wit. He always had a ready smile for everyone. He was a survivor to the end and never gave up the hope that he would conquer his illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 29, 1993, at the Vansant-Mills Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Monte Roark officiating. "Love Me" by Collin Raye, "The Dance" and "If Tomorrow Never Comes" by Garth Brooks were played. WILSON, Elsie Marie 1915 - 1920 Elsie Marie Wilson, the little daughter of Noah and Maud Wilson, was born April 23, 1915 and died at their home near Ballard, Mo. on May 22, 1920, age 5 years and 29 days. She died after an illness of 15 days, a result of whooping cough and influenza . She leaves father, mother and two little brothers, Charles Albert age 7, William Raymond age 3 months. Two grandfathers and two grandmothers and a host of other relatives who will long remember how sweet and peaceful she looked when we beheld her for the last time before we consigned her body to the tomb. It was a sad parting but our God knows what is best for all, and takes the dear little children in order to lead the older ones. Would we call her back? No, for we know her sufferings are over and we will meet her up in heaven where parting comes no more. The funeral was conducted by Brother Wyatt at Hickory Grove school house and her little body was placed in the adjacent Hickory Grove cemetery near Urich, Mo. WILSON, Ernest Arlo n/a - 1989 Ernest Arlo Wilson, 66, Omaha, NE, died Wednesday morning, May 3, 1989, at his home. He formerly lived in the Norris neighborhood. He was a retired machinist. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Anderson Wilson, two sons, Gary Wayne Wilson and Steven Lee Wilson; one daughter, Rhonda Jean Wilson, all of the Omaha vicinity; two brothers and seven sisters. His parents and one brother, James, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Friday at Plattsmouth, NE. WILSON, Estel 1888 - 1970 Estel Wilson, 81, Clinton, died in 1970 at the hospital in Clinton, MO. He was a lifelong resident of Henry County. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Quarles Baptist Church, near Clinton. Surviving are his wife, Jennie, of the home; three sons, Norman Lee, Prairie Village, KS, David and Paul of the home; three stepsons, James and Patrick Camden both of Clinton and Michael Camden, with the US Marines in California; five daughters, Elsie Wyatt, Shawnee, KS; Helen Brown, Overland Park, KS; Leona Cardis, Kansas City, MO; Gladys Fuller, Springdale, AR; Ada June Hammond, Carthage, MO; a stepdaughter, Mary Jane Renfro, Grandview; a sister, Clara Foster, Clinton. Services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday at the Consalus Chapel, Clinton, with burial in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. WILSON, Hattie Mabel CUTHRELL 1894 - 1953 Hattie M. Wilson, 59, Clinton, died December 18, 1953, at the Lakeside hospital where she had been a patient eight days. She was a lifelong resident of Clinton and was a member of the Quarles Baptist Church near Clinton. Surviving are her husband, Estel Wilson of the home, a farmer; her father, Ed Cuthrell, Clinton; five daughters: Mrs. Charles Fuller, Mrs. Roy Wyatt, Mrs. Murl Brown, Mrs. John Cardis, Mrs. James Rhodes; three sons: Ralph, Homer, and Norman of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Lon Stewart, Mrs. Pauline Jennings; five brothers, Taylor Cuthrell, Rollie, Alpha, Elmer, and Ed. and a grandson, Richard Wilson of the home. Mabel Hattie Cuthrell was born Aug 10, 1894, near Clinton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Cuthrell. She was the eldest of eight children. She attended the Curtis and Union rural schools until the death of her mother in 1911 when she became the homemaker for her father, two sisters and five brothers. On Oct 11, 1911, she was married to Estel Wilson, of near Clinton. To this union 10 children were born, two of whom are deceased -- Ora Estel and Lucille. The Wilson's have always lived on farms near Clinton and for the past 17 years have lived on Mrs. Margaret Kinyon's farm near Quarles. Mrs. Wilson had been in ill health for several years but, with her strong will to keep going and her courageous disposition, few knew of her serious condition. A few weeks ago she entered Lakeside Hospital in Kansas City and apparently was responding to treatment. Only 15 minutes before her death, family members had chatted with her at her bedside. When they arrived at the home of a daughter, the news of her sudden passing awaited them, a crushing blow. Her life was busy and full, with her large family, yet it was she who always found time to teach in the Sunday School, work in Vacation Bible Schools, help in the church WSCS, or in any worthwhile activity of church, school or community. WILSON, Homer Finis 1930 - 1963 Funeral services for Homer Wilson, 33, will be held at the Quarles Baptist Church Friday. He died 12 June 1963. Mr. Wilson was fatally injured in a car accident at Clinton Sunday afternoon. He lived at Shawnee, KS, for three years and was a truck driver for Union Asphalt and Roadoils, Inc. He had previously been employed at Jake's D-X in Clinton. Mr. Wilson was born in Henry County May 6, 1930, a son of Estel and Hattie Wilson. He leaves his father, four daughters, five sisters and a nephew, Richard Wilson. WILSON, James E. 1926 - 1985 James E. Wilson, 58, Route 1, Leeton, died 8 June 1985 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, Clinton. He was born Dec 9, 1926, in Plattsmouth, NE, the son of Wayne and Georgia (Hull) Wilson. On May 9, 1947, he married Helen Bradshaw in Clinton. Mr. Wilson has been a resident of Leeton since 1951. He is a member of the Harmony Baptist Church, Leeton and worked as a farmer in the area. Survivors include his wife, Helen, of the home; one son, James Keith Wilson, Warrensburg; one daughter, Karen Ganott, Neosho; 10 brothers and sisters; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 10, 1985, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Warrensburg. Burial will be in Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee. WILSON, Jenny Catherine CAMDEN 1915 - 1979 Jenny Camden Wilson, 64, Clinton, died Friday (November 1979) at Golden Valley Hospital. She is survived by five sons, James and Patrick Camden of Clinton; Michael Camden of Independence; David and Paul Wilson of Clinton; a daughter, Mary Jane Renfro of Raymore; three brothers, Lawrence Camden of Detroit, Joseph and Albert of Quebec, Canada; two sisters, Margaret Sirois of Bristol, CN, and Ann Roy of Phoenix. Dr. n/a - 1914 Appleton City Journal, Nov 12 1914 - Dr. John Wilson is Dead - In our last issue, mention was made of the serious illness of Dr. John Wilson, of Deepwater, who was stricken with paralysis. His condition gradually grew worse until he was relieved of suffering by death last Sunday. Dr. Wilson was well known in this county, especially around Osceola where his brothers, J. Y. and T. B. now reside. Burial was made at Osceola Tuesday. WILSON, Julia Angeline CARVER 1860 - 1928 Mrs. L. R. Wilson - Julia Angeline Carver Wilson was born in Jefferson County, Ia. October 20, 1860, and departed this life November 15 , 1928. Age 68 years and 26 days. She was married to Louis Riley Wilson July 18, 1878. To this union eight children were born - Marion R. Wilson, who passed away October 14, 1880; James O. Wilson of Clinton , Mrs John (Della) Stevens of Clinton, Mo.; Noah E. Wilson of Urich, Mo.; George A. Wilson of Urich, Mo.; Roy L. Wilson who passed away July 6, 1919 ; Mary Louella Wilson of Clinton, Mo.; Mrs Linezy (Grace) Parker of Versaillles, Mo. She leaves to mourn their loss, her devoted husband , six children, eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren , four sisters, two brothers and a multitude of neighbors and friends. Mrs Wilson , commonly known as Aunt Ann , became a christian in early life. Later joined the Baptist church and with her husband became a charter member of the Hickory Grove church when it was organized May 9, 1905. Her life has been a help and comfort to all who knew her ; Her home has been open to those who came; her life has been a blessing to humanity and a benediction unto God. WILSON, Kenneth Eugene 1927 - 1993 Kenneth Eugene Wilson, son of Ola and Nellie Holmes Wilson, was born January 9, 1927 at Clinton and passed away November 11, 1993 at Golden Valley Hospital at the age of 66. Kenneth had lived in Kansas City for 40 years before they moved to Calhoun in 1978. He was a forklift operator for Armco Steel in Kansas City before retiring in 1978. He was a member of United Steel Workers of America Local 13, Kansas City, and he was an Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Jackie, of the home; two daughters, Gale Lee and Phyllis Gillespie, both of Independence; three brothers, Frank Wilson, Woodrow Wilson and David Wilson, all of Clinton; three sisters, Bernice Ballard, Clinton, Judy Tate, Buckner, and Mary Jo Moore, Holton, Ks., and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Vansant-Mills Chapel at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 13, 1993, with Rev. Don Eaton officiating. Organ selections were played by Peggy Arthur. WILSON, Lewis Riley 1859 - 1932 Lewis Riley Wilson Passes - L. R. Wilson entered into eternity at 5:45 Wednesday morning, Dec 28, 1932 after an illness that kept him bedfast nine weeks. His fatal malady being cancer of the liver. Mr Wilson was born near Little Rock, Ark., but was brought to Missouri when a small boy, and had lived the rest of his life in the Hickory Grove vicinity south of Urich. He was 73 years, 9 months and 24 days of age. He was united in marraige with Julia Angeline Carver July 18, 1878 at the home of Judge Hackney, who officiated. Mrs. Wilson preceded him death Nov. 15, 1928. Since that time he has made his home with their son, J. O. Wilson. Eight children blessed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, six of whom are still living : J. O. Wilson of Hartwell, Mo., Noah E. Wilson and George A. Wilson of near Urich, Mrs John (Della) Stevens and Miss Louella Wilson of Clinton, Mo., and Mrs Grace Parker of Warrensburg, Mo. He also leaves one brother, James Wilson, of Perryville Ark.; a half brother John F. Hodges of West Riverside, Calif., and a half sister Mrs Lou Black of Oklahoma. Two sons preceded him in death. Marion R. in infancy and Roy L. at the age of 28 years. Mr. Wilson was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist church and was held in high esteem by a wide acquaintance. Funeral services were conducted at the Hickory Grove church at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, and burial was made in the Hickory Grove cemetery near by. WILSON, Mark W. 1908 - 1985 Funeral services for Judge Mark Wilson, 77, were held at 1 p.m. Monday (May 1985) at Consalus Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Johnson officiating. Judge Wilson died Friday morning at Golden Valley Hospital. He was a well-known Henry Countian and was Probate-Magistrate Judge here for 32 years. He retired in 1978. He also was a former Henry County prosecuting attorney. He was a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Elks Lodge and the United Methodist Church. Judge Wilson is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home. Judge Wilson was born January 25, 1908, in Clinton, the son of James H. Wilson and Rosa May Russell Wilson. WILSON, Maud Elma HUNTER 1887 - 1978 Maud E. Wilson, 91 years old, died Wednesday, March 15, 1978 at the Tucker Nursing home in Holden, Mo. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Friday March 17, 1978 at the Ben Cast and Sons Funeral Home in Holden Mo. Services were conducted by Rev Gale Spillman and Rev. Steve Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Barth and Mrs. Harold Jordon sang, "Does Jesus Care?" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". Mrs. Robert E. Mickey was organist. Pallbearers were David Corwin, Don Corwin, Ron Corwin, Randy Corwin, Rick Corwin, and Ron Burnfin. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, near Urich, Mo. Maud Elma Wilson was born August 3, 1887 in Benton County, Mo. She was the daughter of Jasper C. Hunter and Lucy Ann Guthrie Hunter. She was married to Noah E. Wilson October 7, 1911, in Clinton, Mo. They were parents to five children. Mrs. Wilson lived in LaTour, Mo., and later in Chilhowee, Mo. before moving to Holden, Mo. in 1959. She was a member of the Church of God. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elsie Marie, in 1920 at the age of five years. Survivors are her husband Noah of the home; three sons, Charles A. Wilson, Deepwater, Mo., William R. Wilson, Atlanta, Ga.., Riley C. Wilson, Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Alta Pearl, Mrs. Max (Alta Pearl Wilson) Corwin of Holden, Mo.; two brothers, Marshall Hunter, Sedalia, Mo. and Robert Hunter, Clinton, Mo.; nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren WILSON, Noah Emmett 1885 - 1982 WILSON, Noah Emmett - Noah Emmett Wilson died Saturday, March 20, 1982, at Westwood Nursing Home in Clinton, Mo. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, at the Cast Chapel in Holden, Mo. Services were conducted by Rev. Larry Paris. The music was by the Allelula Singers with Miss Sharon Leavy at the organ. Pallbearers were: Charles R. Wilson, Randy Corwin, Don Corwin, David Corwin, Dean Wilson and Ron Burnfin. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Urich, Mo. Noah Emmett was born June 2, 1885 near Urich, Mo. He was the son of Lewis Riley Wilson and Julia Angeline Carver Wilson. He married Maud Elma Hunter on October 7, 1911 in Clinton, Mo. To this union was born five children.: Charles A. Wilson Clinton, Mo, Elsie Marie Wilson (died May 22,1920 at the age of 5 years), William Raymond, of Atlanta, Ga., Riley C. Wilson, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Max (Alta Pearl) Corwin, Holden, Mo. In addition to the previously mentioned children he is survived by a sister, Louella Chastain of Clinton, Mo.; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren. WILSON, Nona A. WOOLFOLK 1843 - 1902 Clinton Eye, Aug 23 1902 - Death of Mrs. J. W. Wilson - Nona A. Woolfolk was born October 30, 1843, in Boone County, this state; moved to Henry in 1855; married John W. Wilson of this county January 22, 1871, has made Henry her home ever since. She was converted when only a girl of 14; united with the Baptist church, then in 1870, united with M. E. south, this being the church home of her husband. She died August 15, 1902; was a great sufferer, but bore it all with Christian fortitude. Leaves her faithful, sorrowing husband, a devoted son, Walter. She was a great lover of religious literature and devoured it with a relish that was amazing. We doubt whether she was ever guilty of reading a trashy novel or paper. She loved to read good books and the more religious, the better she loved them. The Holy Bible was a daily book and in 30 years, she had read it thru 30 times, once every year. She had read it through eight times on her knees. Her sufferings were long and intense and she was glad when the summons came to depart, that she might be free from pain. All that was mortal of Nona Wilson was laid to rest in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. WILSON, Ora Estel 1920 - 1934 Ora Estel Wilson, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Estel Wilson, died at his home three miles east of Quarles, Sunday, November 11, 1934, after a several weeks' illness with a complication of diseases which began with whooping cough, then ran into yellow jaundice and malaria fever. Ora Estel was born September 7, 1920, east of Quarles, where he spent his short life. He was a thoughtful and obedient child, always eager to help with the work about his home. He was ambitious to finish the eighth grade of school this year so he could enter high school next year. Besides his parents, he is survived by six sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Charles A. Fuller, Alsia and Helen of Kansas City, Leona Pearl, Lucile, Ada June, Ralph and Homer Finnis of the home. His funeral was conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Quarles Baptist church by Rev. Homer Delozier of Leeton, a close friend of the family. Burial was in Englewood under the direction of Wilkinson funeral service. WILSON, Ralph C. 1925 - 1968 Ralph C. Wilson, 42, of 2217 Seventy-third Terr, Prairie Village, KS, died yesterday at a hospital in Tulsa. He was born July 26, 1925, in Clinton, MO, the son of Estel and Hattie Cuthrell Wilson. and lived here 16 years. He was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army from 1944 to 1949. He was united in marriage with Barbara Jean Adams, May 19, 1951. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson made their home in Clinton the first years of their marriage then moved to Shawnee, KS, and later to Prairie Village, KS, where they were living at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Adams Wilson; three sons, Gary Wayne, Larry Dean and Jerry Douglas and two daughters, Cary Marie and Mary Beth, all of the home; his father, Estel Wilson, Clinton; a brother, Norman Lee Wilson, Prairie Village; two stepbrothers, David and Paul Wilson, both of Clinton, and five sisters, Gladys Fuller, Springdale, AR; Elsie Wyatt, Shawnee, KS; Helen Brown, Shawnee, KS; Leona Cardis, Kansas City, MO, and Ada June Hammond, Carthage, MO. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Wilson, in December 1953; one sister, Lucille, in January 1946; two brothers, Ora Wilson in November 1934; and Homer Wilson in June 1963. Services were held Saturday, February 24 at the First Baptist Church in Clinton. Interment was in the Englewood Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Jeff Stellman, Robert Moon, Robert Springston, Allan Hague, Dick Young and Robert Young. WILSON, Ray Frances 1903 - 1993 Ray Frances Wilson passed away November 12, 1993 at Meadowbrook Manor at the age of 90. Ray was born January 7, 1903, the son of Marian Frances Wilson and Susan Elizabeth Lotspeich Wilson of the Garland community. He attended Curtis School. Ray's occupation was farming and doing mechanical work. He always took pride in his work. On November 18, 1939 Ray married Lydia Miller. They made their home in Garland and later moved to the Field's Creek community. They lived there almost 30 years until they gave up their farm to the Truman Dam Project in 1972. Ray and Lydia then retired and moved to Clinton where Ray took care of Lydia through many years of illness. Ray became a Christian at a young age. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton for 69 years. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Lydia; his parents; his infant brother Chester Lee Wilson; and three sisters, Jessie White, Lou Alice Thomas and Marie Duerr. He leaves his sister Ella Knight of Denver, Colorado; nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many friends. Rev. Dick Pierson officiated at the funeral service on November 15, 1993 at Sickman & Dunning Chapel. Special music was Beyond The Sunset. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery with Doyle Williams, Bill Long, Jim Mintun, Ken White, Courtney Haynes and Jo G. Roberts serving as pallbearers. WILSON, Roy Lawrence 1889 - 1919 Roy Lawrence Wilson was born Dec. 18, 1889 in Henry County, Mo., and died July 6, 1919. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Wilson of near Hartwell. He was married to Lou Shroder Sept. 16, 1911. To this union were born three children: Roy Edward, Ray Thurman and Ellen Norene. He leaves a wife, three children, father and mother, three sisters, Mrs. Della Stevens, Louella and Grace Wilson ; three brothers, Noah, Ola and George Wilson. He was a member the Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church at 2 p. m. July 7, by the Rev. Wyatt, after which the burial was made at Hickory Grove Cemetery. WILSON, Sophronia CHITWOOD 1824 - 1901 Henry County Democrat, January 2, 1902 - Mrs. Wilson, living on the McKinney farm southwest of town, died yesterday and buried today in the cemetery at Carrsville. - Henry County Republican, January 3, 1902 - Mrs. Andy Wilson, living a short distance southeast of Clinton, died Sunday of consumption and was buried Monday in the Carrsville cemetery.
