WOIRHAYE OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== WOIRHAYE, Charity Jane BELTON 1860 - 1937 A Beloved Mother and Friend Gone: Mrs. Gilbert W. Woirhaye died at her home near LaDue December 30, 1937. Her illness was very brief. She suffered a stroke the previous morning and as her body was already so frail and afflicted with diabetes, she had no resistance and her spirit went to meet the loved ones on the other side at 4:00 p.m. after several hours of unconsciousness. Charity Jane Belton Woirhaye daughter of Henry and Charity Henese Belton, and one of 11 children, was born in Modena, Ill., March 3, 1860. She moved with her parents from Illinois to Missouri when a small child and they located near Holden, later moving to near Clinton. October 30, 1883, she was married to Gilbert W. Woirhaye at Hartwell. Four children were born to this union. A daughter, Goldie Boyles, preceded her in death nine years ago. Those surviving with the beloved husband are Henry of Urich, Inez Burge, Ft. Lupton, Colo., and Mrs. Arthur Middaugh of LaDue. She also leaves two brothers, John and Dudley Belton, of LaDue, 14 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. When young she united with the Hartwell Baptist Church and lived a life above reproach ever since. Her thoughts of others and their interests were uppermost in her life. After her stroke, when her words were hardly audible, she kept insisting that her daughter Ethel, fix a lunch before her loved ones (who had called to do anything they could to relieve her pain) returned home, telling her to open some marmalade and that a cake was in the ice box. This was only characteristic of her daily life. In her quilting club her cakes were the finest and one could always pick them from the others, though all were good. Words cannot express how much she will be missed in her club and community for though so frail for over seven years, she got more out of life than many who are younger and enjoying good health. She loved young people and was always solicitous of their welfare. She did all her housework and last year tended her garden and canned many gallons of fruit and vegetables. She made the most of every minute for at night she made rugs and pieced quilts, her hands never idle. She made the most of life, meeting each misfortune with fortitude and faith in a divine being and a few hours before her death when her brother, John, patted her on the cheek and said, God Bless You, Jane, she patted his hand reassuring him that all was well. Her funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon at the LaDue Baptist church by Rev. Butler of Clinton. Pallbearers were her grandsons, James Lee Gray, Lester Britt, Henry Arthur and Glenn Middaugh, Durward and Gilbert Allen Woirhaye.
