WOLFF OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== WOLFF, Jacob 1836 - 1920 Passing Away of Jacob Wolff - At 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 27th, after an illness of nearly 3 months. He was born in Alsace, France, Oct. 10th, 1836. He came to America when about 17 years of age, was always a farmer; worked for an uncle that was here to pay his passage money, at $9 per month. He only had one sister and his parents allowed him to come to America to keep him from going into the army and when his mother got word that he enlisted in the Union army in the Civil War, she fainted. He enlisted for the 3 months service and then reenlisted and served during the entire Civil War. He was in 47 engagements and never wounded, only was knocked down once, then was struck between the eyes with a spent ball that knocked him down and he heard them say he was killed. He was 2nd Lieutenant in the army. He was married to Miss Emma Johnston Sept. 12, 1867, in Warrensburg, Mo. Both he and his wife lived their early lives in Ohio and Mr. Wolff came to Missouri at the close of the war and taught school at Shawnee Mound. After their marriage they lived on a farm for 44 years, which they now own. They came to Clinton about 9 years ago and purchased their present home - corner Oak and North Main. They were married 52 years last September. Seven children were born to this union. Tow little girls died in infancy. The five living are: Dr. L. G. Wolff, of Okarche, Okla.; Dr. E. J. Wolff, of Waukomis, Okla.; Mrs. Effie Venable, near Lawton, Okla.; Mrs. H. A. Kinyon, Castle Ford, Idaho; Charles Wolff, Clinton. Deceased was a great lover of home, never absent in his life except on important business. Jacob Wolff was a devoted member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Shawnee Mound and was Sunday school superintendent at that church for 20 years, being deacon and elder also. His citizenship was ideal. He was always ready to help public improvement. His spirit was for progress. After coming to Clinton they united with the M. E. church and the sweetness of their lives attest to their Christian character. The funeral was held at the home by rev. Hoos, Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Burial in Englewood. WOLFF, L. G., Dr. 1868 - 1956 Kingfisher Times and Free Press, Kingfisher, Oklahoma October 1, 1956. - L. G. Wolff, 88 Okarche Doctor, Dies Suddenly - L. G. Wolff, 88, a retired Okarche physician, died suddenly about 8:30 p.m. at his home. He had not been ill. Funeral was held this Monday afternoon in the Okarche Congregational church, with Rev. Emil Garnett officiating. Burial was made In Kingfisher cemetery. Born July 4, 1868, at Shawnee Mound, Mo., Dr. Wolff came to Okarche in 1899 to establish a medical practice with his brother, E. J. Wolff, who later moved to Waukomis and died there about 12 years ago. L. G. Wolff had resided in Okarche continuously since locating there, retiring from active practice about 10 years ago. He was united in marriage with Della E. Battershall in 1904 at Okarche. Wolff was a long-time member of the El Reno Lions club, a life-time member of the Canadian County Medical Society, and had been a member of the Okarche Congregational church since 1904. He was honored late last year by the Okarch VFW auxiliary with a "This Is Your Life" program attended, among others, by his children and their families and most of his former patients. He was preceded in death by a son in infancy. Survivors include, in addition to the wife of the home, a son, L. J. Wolff of Kingfisher; a daughter, Mrs. S. W. Hamner Jr. of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Harvey Kenyon on Twin Falls, Idaho, and a brother, Charles J.
