WRIGHT OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== WRIGHT, Foster P. 1807 - 1887 Clinton MO, Jun 25 1887 - Judge Foster P. Wright died Thursday night, June 30, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Chas. A. Pollock, in Jefferson City. He was born in Hampshire county, Mass. January 20, 1807 and was well known all over this State, having been elected to the legislature from Pike county in 1836 and the following year was appointed circuit judge by Gov. Boggs and went to Warsaw to reside. In 1848 he was reappointed and at the end of the term, Waldo P. Johnson was elected; but in 1859, Judge Wright was again elected and remained in office until the Civil War. He became a citizen of Clinton in 1870 and was elected to the bench of the 22nd circuit. Moving to the capitol in 1881, he practiced in the different courts and proved to be a grand man. In August, 1837, he married Miss Nancy McClanahan of South Carolina. They had 11 children, six now living. WRIGHT, Hattie WEBSTER n/a - 1931 Mrs. Marsh Wright Dead - Word has been received of the death of Mrs. M. P. Wright, December 31, in Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Wright's death recalls to many Clinton residents, the pioneer days of Clinton, for her parents, and she, too, were leaders in the social and community life of that time, 1870. Hattie Webster was reared in Henry county, her father being a pioneer farmer, owning large tracts of land which became hers at their death, and she was said to be one of the wealthiest maidens in the county. She made her home with her guardian, D. C. Stone, a banker here, and received her education in a St. Louis finishing school for young ladies. She was a very attractive woman. Her husband, who survives, is Marshall P. Wright, and at the time of their marriage was a banker in Clinton. They made their home at the corner of Second and Franklin, in a two story brick house, which has long since been destroyed. Two children were given them, Jacqueline and Foster, and later, in California, a daughter, Helen. WRIGHT, Susie Annie PARKS 1893 - 1993 Susie Annie Parks was born May 21, 1893 to John William Parks and Rosa Annie Duff Parks in St. Clair County. She departed this life October 11, 1993, at the Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, at the age of 100 years, 4 months and 21 days. Susie professed her faith in Christ and was baptized at the age of 16 when she joined the Wright's Creek Baptist church. Susie was married to John Grover (Glow) Wright on June 9, 1912. To this union were born seven children, two of whom died in infancy. She is survived by a daughter, Jewell Harvey of Kansas City, a son, Herman C. Wright of Clinton, a son, Kenneth R. Wright of Kearney, and a daughter, Freda Tally of Clinton. Another daughter, Erma Allard of Winnipeg, Canada preceded her in death in 1990. Susie was one of five children born to the Parks family. Her eldest sister, Retta Wright, died in 1988 at 99 1/2 years, a brother Charles died in 1977, a sister, Ella Pilant, age 95 1/2 resides in Clinton. During much of their early married life Glow and Susie lived in the Lowry City vicinity where Glow farmed and did carpenter work. Eventually Glow went to work for the railroad as a machinist. His service occurred in Pittsburg, Ks. and Kansas City where he retired. After this death in 1979, Susie continued to reside in Kansas City until 1986 when she moved to Clinton. Susie was a devoted wife and mother and will be sorely missed by friends and relatives. Other surviving relatives include 12 grandchildren, Mrs. Kay Hayworth of Olathe, Ks., Mrs. Ronda Prewitt of Braymer, Jeanie Butcher of Kansas City, Susie and Lina Wright of Kearney, Mrs. Judy Richardson of Independence, Mrs. Martha Schake of Kremmling, Colorado, Dennis Allard, Mike Allard, Sandra Allard, Maurice Allard, all of Winnipeg, Canada and James Allard of Seattle, Wa. There are also 20 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 14, at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, with Rev. William Ritchie officiating. Music was by the Jubilee Singers. Pallbearers were Paul E. Hayworth, John P. Hayworth, Ronald G. Prewitt, Glen Richardson, Robert Wright, Dennis Allard.
