ZEHNDER OBITUARIES, Henry County, Missouri ==================================================================== ZEHNDER, Vera Y. WOIRHAYE abt 1933 - 2000 Kansas City Star, Mar 23 2000 -Vera Y. (Woirhaye) Zehnder, age 67, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Vansant-Milles Chapel, Clinton, MO; burial in Stones Chapel Cemetery, Montrose, MO. Family will receive friends 7:30-9 p.m. Friday at Christ's United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th, Independence, MO. Family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. Vera was born in Henry County, MO. She was married to Frederic F. Zehnder on October 25, 1952, in Clinton, MO, and to this union five children were born. She worked for K mart for 18 years. She was a member of the Christ's United Methodist Church, Independence, MO. She was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert F. Woirhaye and one granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Rice. She is survived by her husband, Fred, of the home; three sons, Larry and wife, Marie, Mike and wife, Maria, and Mitch and wife, Deanna, all of Independence, MO; two daughters, Deanne Rice and husband, Michael D. of Independence, MO, and Terrie Rowland and husband, Don, of Blue Springs, MO; her mother, Lily Mae Woirhaye of Clinton, MO; one brother, Marvin Woirhaye of Clinton, MO; one sister, Wanda Fields of Urich, MO; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Vera was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to bowl, go fishing, travel, attend garage sales, and sew for her grandchildren. (Arrangements: Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, MO) ZEHNDER, Veta A. SILVER 1905 - 1993 Veta A. Zehnder was born in Adrian, Missouri December 27, 1905 to John C. Silver and Etta Morrill Silver and departed this life April 6, 1993 at Meadowbrook Manor in Clinton, at the age of 87. She attended school in Adrian and received her BS and MS degrees in Education from Central Missouri State University. She taught school in Henry and Bates Counties thirty years before retiring in 1972. She was a member of Eastern Star. She married Lawrence F. Zehnder January 9, 1926 and moved to a farm in henry County where they lived until 1974 when they moved to Clinton. She joined the Stones Chapel Methodist Church in 1926 and was a member of the White Oak United Methodist Church at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1986, her parents, five sisters, two brothers and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by two sons, Frederic Zehnder of Independence, and Donald Zehnder of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one sister, Celestine Johnston of Cassville, Mo. Funeral services were held at Stones Chapel, Montrose, Friday, April 9, 1993 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jan Schnepf officiating. Just a Closer Walk With Thee and Burdens are Lifted at Calvary were played by Lucille Long and Maxine Zehnder. Pallbearers were Larry Zehnder, Michael Zehnder, Mitchell Zehnder, Randall Zehnder, Bradley Brester, Donald Rowland and Michael Rice. Burial was held at the Stones Chapel Cemetery, under direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton. ZEHNDER, Violet Hazel JOHNSTON 1904 - 1992 Violet Hazel Zehnder, age 87 of Route #3, Montrose, Missouri passed away Sunday July 5, 1992 at Sycamore View Nursing Home, Clinton, Missouri. Mrs. Zehnder was born in Vernon, Texas and has lived in Henry County since she was two years old. She was a member of the Stones Chapel United Methodist church and the Better Homes Improvement Club. Her husband, Roy F. Zehnder passed away June 9, 1985. She is survived by two sons, Loyd Zehnder, Montrose and Robert Zehnder, Waverly, Missouri; one daughter, Mary Alice Powers, Grandview, Missouri; one brother, Fred Johnston, Montrose, Missouri and one sister, Margaret Colson, Urich, Missouri as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Stones Chapel Thursday, July 9, 1992 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jan Schnepf officiating. "In The Garden" and Heavenly Sunlight" were played with Maxine Zehnder as organist and Lucille Long at the piano. Pallbearers were Randy Zehnder, Terry Zehnder, Bradley Zehnder, Jerry Powers, Kevin Colson, and Russell Johnston.
