Small Cemeteries, Hickory County, Missouri The following has been transcribed by Johnna Quick, through a combination of walking the cemeteries and checking it against the earlier records from the Hickory County Historical Society. These were done in May of 2004. King Family Plot Cemetery West of Wheatland, north from 54 Highway on County Road 121 for 2 ½ miles. 200 feet east of road in hay field. BLAIR, Thompson 9-20-1871 5-9-1874 KING, Jacob 1815-1893 Juliana (Julie) 1819-1861 Rosean 10-6-1848 7-12-1881 Jemima 6-7-1842 11-10-1884 daughter of Jacob and July Ann King Herbert Cemetery On Highway 54 between Hermitage and Wheatland, on the road to the gravel pit. HERBERT, Eld. T D 4-28-1839 2-11-1926 Catherine 8-19-1846 2-11-1912 William Thomas 11-15-1903 12-24-1909 Earl and Pearl Infant twins of JC and Mary Herbert WHISTLER, Dewey 5-13-1911 5-13-1911 Infant son of Jacob and Ramah Whistler Jonas Brown Family Cemetery On 64 Highway, north of Pittsburg, just south of the Nemo Bridge. There is now a trailer park and resort on the property, the cemetery is in the back portion of the trailer park. Several family members as well as a couple of slaves are said to be buried here, however the only marker remaining is for Jonas Brown. Jonas was one of the first judges elected in Hickory County, and was crucial in setting up the county seat at Hermitage. The remains of his home are in the woods just northeast of the cemetery.
