Obituary of Harriet Allsup-Edde - Hickory County, Missouri Obituary of Harriet ALLSUP EDDE Harriet ALSUP EDDE was born in Tennessee and moved with her parents to what is now Hickory County when quite a young lady. They lived on the farm where John M. DOLLARHIDE now lives. She professed in Christ as her Savior in her young days and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Tennessee, and after coming here being no church of her denomination after quite a long time cast her lot with the Missionary Baptist at Bethel. She was baptized by her grandson Rev. J. W. ALEXANDER. After her husband’s death she lived about among her children. She had been staying with her son Albert for some time and had started to visit her son Joe T. On her way she was going to stop and see Uncle Nath EDDE, who had been sick for a long time, but stopped at the store in Preston and was enjoyed the best of health it seemed. She was sitting in a chair talking to Bud EDDE and asked him to get her a drink of water and he did but she couldn’t hold the dipper and told him she was sick and wanted to lay down. He told her there was no place to lay down and she had better go to his house and she said she couldn’t. Albert EDDE came in then and he and Bud walked her down to Bud’s house and called Dr. BROOKSHIRE who was in Preston at that time but nothing done her any good. She only lived 4 hours and died March 16, 1914. She lived a constant Christian life. After funeral service by Rev. A. B. WILSON and Bro. PARRACK the remains were laid to rest beside her husband to await her final judgement. Uncle John and Aunt Harriet lived a life that was a good example for others to live by and if we would live as they lived many of us would be better men and better women. A. B.
