Carpenter was born in Killbuck Ohio, August 2nd 1852 and passed away January 27th 1934, at the home in Weaubleau. He was 82 years, 5 months and 25 days of age. He was united in marriage to Alice Jane Butler, March 28th 1872. To this union was born eight children, six of who are yet living; Wesley, of Weaubleau; Colonel, of Wheatland; Mrs Doll Hostetler, of Redlands California; Mrs Edith Cowan of Aldrich Mo; Mrs Wilda Hostetler, Weaubleau; Mrs Roxey Roth of Mounds City Kansas. Two sons preceded him in death, James Carpenter in infancy and Stephen Carpenter in his 17th year. He also leaves to mourn his loss six grand children and one brother. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00pm Monday, January 29th, 1934, at the Baptist Church in Weaubleau by Rev. A.T. Mahanay, assisted by Rev. Birdsong and a very impressive talk was given. The remains were laid to rest in the Crutsinger Cemetery under direction of J. R. Luckey. Additional Comments: Obituary found in old scrapbook belonging to my grandmother, Elsie Fugate Kelley.
