Mary Florence, the eldest daughter of Jacob H. and Nancy J. Sanders was born December 17, 1869 and passed away January 25 being 61 years, 1 month and 7 days old. She was married to Lafayette G. Chaney March the 15th 1885, who preceded her in death August 14, 1917. To this union was born nine children, four boys and five girls. Otho died in infancy and Alvin passed away at the age of eleven. Those who survive her are Orel H., Leslie J., Nannie, Alice, Lou, Anice, Fayette. She professed faith in Christ in her early teens and united with the M.E. church South at the Old Liberty church. Later her membership was transferred to Hermitage church where she was a conscientious and obedient member. Her entire life was spent in the community where she was reared. Her life was as an open book. Each day was lived as though it was the last. She was natures model of true womanhood, kindly of heart, devoid of selfishness, sympathetic, generous and full of charity. She devoted her life to the interests of those about her. These truest gems of character were made manifest in actions rather than words. She was a lover of Gods word. During the past several years she had been a close student, never allowing a day to pass without gleaning its pages for the wonderful lessons taught. She despised shams and hypocrisy and loved the truth and simplicity. The luster of her high character, unselfishness and devoted life will always illuminate the lives of those she left behind, in this as a mother, she left us the richest heritage. Her lifes mission is ended, her labors of earth are o'er. She has passed on to join that innumerable throng in the paradise of God where all the sufferings of life are over. Then let us sorrow not as those who have no hope for we shall soon join her and be forever with the Lord. The Children. Additional Comments: My great grandmother on my Dad's side of the family.
