Father went with his parents to the state of California when but three years of age, making the trip in an ox wagon. He returned at the age of eight to Hickory Co Mo., where he spent most of the remainder of his life. He joined the Christian church at Antioch at about the age of 40, later he moved his membership to Elkton where he remained a devoted and active member until the time of his death. We had the dearest father, He has crossed the Golden Strand; He has gone to be with mother, In a much more beautiful land. He roamed the crest of mother earth For almost 81 long years; He had many sad experiences, He shed many briny tears. He was a devoted Christian, Was prepared to meat his God; His soul traveled on to the land of mystery, And now his body sleeps beneath the sod, He passed from earth to Heaven, We will see his dear form no more; Till we cross the silent river, And meet on the other shore. ----Wirtten by his daughter Additional Comments: Obituary found in old scrapbook that belonged to my grandmother, Elsie Fugate Kelley.
