At the age of 18 she made public confession of faith in the Christian religion and united with the Christian church at Norton, Kansas, and remained a constant loyal follower of Christ all her life. For several years she taught in the public schoos of her native state. On January 11, 1897, she was married to Neils Jensen, at Leavenworth Kansas. The following year they moved to Platte Co Missouri, where they lived until 1905, when they moved to Weaubleau Missouri, where they resided until the times of their death. On March 3, 1912, the husband died. The story of Mrs Jensen since the death of her husband is the story of a heroine. Left with 4 small children she set herself with dauntless courage to the task of not only keeping family from the support of charity but of training and educating her children for useful citizenship. The problem was a hard one. She decided to try to fit herself to meet the advanced standard for teaching, and in 1913 entered the old Weaubleau Christian College here for that purpose. With an application to her work surpassed by no student of the college she succeeded, and passed the teachers' examination with honor, and from that time until two years before her death she supported and educated her family and herself by teaching. On February 1, 1934, last Thursday she ended a task well and nobly done, and answered the call of her Master to come up higher and receive the reward of faithful service. Her only son, Vernon Francis, died April 9, 1926. Her three daughters survive her; Mrs Vera Lerdoll, Lincoln, Nebraska; Mrs Opal Phillips, Clinton, Mo; and Mrs Eveleyn Nowell, Kansas City, Mo. She leaves also three grandchildren, Barbara B. Nowell, Coralie Phillips and Frances Phillips, an aged mother (nearly 92 years old), living at Burlington, Kansas, and 4 brothers and 1 sister, all living in Kansas.
