He was a son of Abraham and Dorcas Lindsey, pioneers of Hickory Co. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Whillock March 21st, 1881, who preceded him 32 years ago. To this union six children were born, viz: Mrs Myrtle Kelley, Urbana Mo, Mrs Celia Preston, Greenburg Ks, Blaine, Lulu and Frost of Urbana and Mrs Fay Webb of Clinton Mo. Besides the children he leaves eight grand children, one sister, Mrs Virginia Atchley of Louisburg Mo, and a brother, Anthony W. Lindsey of Urbana Mo. Three sisters and three brothers have preceded him viz: Emma and Jessie Lindsey and Mrs W.M. Howard, Amos, William and Thomas Lindsey, also a half sister, Mrs Lizzie Reser, and a half brother, James F. Lindsey. The deceased was born and raised on the farm settled by his father in Hickory Co near Urbana Mo, in the year of 1840 and always lived on the same farm. He was a quiet, unassuming man, lived a quiet life, always accommodating and ready to help his neighbors or friends in any way he could. He was converted when a young man at the old camp ground near Urbana. He never joined any church but believed in the Methodist church. The funeral was conducted by the pastor, Rev Wood and Rev D.W. Low of Urbana at Bower Chapel November 27th after which his earthly remains were laid to rest in the Bower Chapel cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his family and also his friends and neighbors, but he has gone to that rest which God has prepared for him. A daughter.
