J. Pitts was born in Hickory Co Missouri, June 10, 1848, and departed this life December 2, 1924, at the age of 76 years 5 months and 22 days. He was married to Martha C. Meadows December 3, 1865, who preceeded him to the better world some 11 years ago. To this union was born 13 children, e died in infancy, 10 grew to manhood and womanhood, who are as follows: Mrs A. R. Albertson, Bozeman, Montana, J. B. Pitts, deceased, Mrs J. W. Bowen, Reed Point, Montana, Y. A. Pitts, Clyde Park, Montana, Mrs J. H. Guile, deceased, Mrs E. Ward, deceased, Arvel Pitts, Bozeman, Montana, Mrs L. C. Reishman, deceased, Mrs J. W. Amiss, Fairburn, S. Dakota. In 1915 he was married to Mrs Margaret J. Moore. He leaves the wife, 6 children, 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren besides a host of friends and relatives to mourn his departure. He was a member of the Christian Church at Antioch. At that place he helped to build the first church that was built. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mahanay. He was laid to rest in the Antioch Cemetery to wait the resurrection morn.
