J. F. Samples died at his home at 6224 Donphin Ave Kansas City Mo,  3 June 
1933.  He was 71 yrs, 6 mths and 26 days old at his death.  He was born near 
Cleveland Tn,  25 December 1861 and moved with his parents,  R.T.  and 
Elizabeth Samples,  to Hickory Co Mo, when he was 8 years old.  At 20 years of 
age he was united in marriage to Mary E. Ferguson.  To this union nine 
children were born, those who preceded him in death were his first wife, two 
daughters Zena and Alta, one son, Irvin.  Those to mourn his loss, his wife, 3 
step sons, Perry, Floyd and Forest Griffin, all of Kansas City. Four sons, 
R.T. Samples of Tulsa Ok, E.J. Samples of Urbana Mo, H. J. Samples of Quincy 
Mo, O.J. Samples address unknown.  Two daughters, Mrs Ruth Stroud, Leavenworth 
Ks, Mrs L. M. Mout? of Independence Mo. Two brothers, John Samples of 
Pittsburg Mo and Jessie Samples of Bernie Mo. October 19 1910 he was married 
to Mrs Goldie Griffin.  He was a Christian man was united with the Baptist 
church while in young manhood. Funeral services were conducted at his home 
church in Kansas City by Rev. Ferguson, his pastor, to a large crowd of 
friends and neighbors, who gave every helping hand and many floral offerings.  
He was taken by his request to his old home at Pittsburg Mo for burial by J. 
R. Luckey of Wheatland where services were conducted June 7th by Rev. Audie 
Miller to a crowd of relatives and friends.
