Page 4resrchn@centurylink.net January 11, 2013, 2:31 pm Democrat Leader Newspaper, Fayette, MO; Nov. 30, 1922 Charles Overstreet died at home near Ruhama Church (Tick Ridge Community) Tuesday at 4:30 pm after an illness of two years. Funeral services will be held Sat. Nov. 30 at the Baptist Church in New Franklin conducted by Rev. Wilcoxson. He will be buried at Mt. Pleasant. Mr. Overstreet would have been 49 on Jan. 5, 1923. He is survived by a wife and 4 children, 2 sons, Arthur (sic) and Ernest, 2 daugthers, Edith and Lenabelle (sic). Also 2 brothers and a sister. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, he was a devoted husband and father and had the love and esteem of a lot of friends. Additional Comments: His wife was Laura Ann [Morris] Overstreet; his children were Albert Stonewall Jackson Overstreet, Ernest Richard Overstreet, Edith Eleanor [Overstreet] Dodson, and Lola Belle [Overstreet] Page. He was survived by four siblings: John Holman Overstreet, Stonewall Jackson Overstreet, Josephine [Overstreet] Wainscott Chapman, and Lou Ella [Overstreet] Jennings. Charles Fayette Overstreet was born January 5, 1874 in Howard Co., MO, the son of Charles Lafayette (b. 1832, Albemarle Co.; d.1884 Howard Co, MO),and Elizabeth Rachel [Swope] Overstreet(b. 1844, Howard Co., MO; d. 1900, Howard Co., MO). Through Charles F.'s. great grandmother, Elizabeth [Barksdale] Overstreet, his ancestry can be traced back to the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne.
