Hill Cemetery, Independence, Jackson County, Missouri Hill Cemetery is located on the Northeast corner (backside) of William M. Hill Park, which is located on 23rd Street (just East of Maywood Rd) in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. The cemetery is a very small, but peaceful family burial ground, shaded by a large tree in the center, under which sits a stone bench. The exterior of the cemetery is surrounded by a stately looking stone wall with a wrought iron gate. This park and cemetery were originally the family farm of Adam Hill. In 1927, Jo Lisle Hill donated the land surrounding Hill Cemetery as a public park in memory of his father, William Moberly Hill. The infamous Frank James (Alexander "F." James) was married to Ann Ralston (who was a Hill). They are buried together in Hill Cemetery. On this date, I visited the cemetery and recorded the following information from the gravesites there: Frank Abston born 2-22-1872 died 10-16-1948 Fannie Brooks Hill born 4-27-1874 died 11-3-1959 (wife of Frank Abston) Alexander F.
