Medal to Boyd D Blunt
Staff Sergeant Spread Fire Hose at Leyte in Bombardment
   Staff Sergeant Boyd D Blunt, 25, son of Mr and Mrs John R Blunt, 3307 East
Seventy-third street, has been awarded the Soldier's Medal for heroism at Leyte,
when "in the midst of exploding artillery shells he assisted in laying fire hose
across the beach to the ocean."  Sergeant Blunt was graduated from Northeast
high school and had been employed by Sears, Roebuck & Co.

Newspaper clipping, probably from the Kansas City Star, date of 2-23-45
handwritten in the margin.
