Gaines, 81, south-central Kansas City, died June 2, 1990, at Saint Joseph Health Center. He was born in Neveda, Mo., and moved to this area in 1935. Mr Gaines worked for the Kansas City Power & Light Co. for 37 years, retiring from the steam department in 1973. He was a member of the John Lynn Club and the Quarter Century Club at KCP&L. He was a charter member of Local 1464 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Catherine Gaines, of the home; two sons, James Gaines, Warrensburg, Mo, and John T Gaines, Harlingen, Texas; two daughters, Jean Marie Walters, Norwalk, Calif., and Norma Schmidt, Eagle Point, Ore.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Park Lawn Chapel; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City.
