Johnston was born Aug. 11, 1870, near Pleasant Hill, Ill. and departed this life Feb. 25, 1939. He came with his parents, John F. and Nancy Johnston, to Missouri at the age of thirteen, locating near Lone Jack. On July 2, 1893, he was united in marriage to Dora Faulkenberry, who died nineteen years ago. To this union, eight children were born. He was left to rear them when the youngest child was eleven years old. He united with the Lone Jack Christian church when a young man, later transferring his membership to the Church of Christ, north of town. He is survived by five daughters; Miss Edna Johnston, of the home; Mrs. W.D. Bell of Kansas City; Mrs. LeRoy Perdue of Oak Grove; Mrs. John Clements and Mrs. Lloyd Muncy, both of Lone Jack; three sons, David Johnston, of the home; Luther Johnston of Oak Grove and Albert Johnston of Kansas City; two sisters, Mrs. Mollie E. Rolls of Kansas City and Miss Effie Murphy of Pleasant Hill and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Roy Bixtler, of Kansas City, Kan. at the Christian church.
