Obituary of Hugh Alexander Porter - Jackson County, Missouri Examiner Article: OBITUARY copied from an article in the Bible of Bessie May Porter Graham, grandaughter of H. A. Porter and d/o Silas W. Porter. Death of H. A. Porter "Uncle" Hugh A. Porter, one of the oldest citizens of this part of Jackson County, died at the home of his son, Clay Porter, south of Blue Springs, Saturday night, March 6, 1915. Mr. Porter was born in Rutherford County, Tenn., January 27, 1826. He came to Missouri in 1833, and lived on a farm two miles east of Blue Springs. He married Miss Susan M. Gibson and to them were born 10 children. Mr. Porter had been sick about nine weeks before his death. He was the son of Samuel Porter, and was at the time of his death 89 years 2 months and 9 days old. The funeral was held in this city Monday, March 8th at the M. E. Church conducted by Rev. T. D. Payne.
